Of course, there’s nothing really wrong with Kazutora once again ending up at the pet shop with Chifuyu, and now Baji. However, it felt like (to me) that the reason why he ended up becoming an employee at Chifuyu’s pet shop in the Bonten timeline was more so out of respect for Baji’s memory, and maybe the fact that he would have had a difficult time finding work since he’s an ex-convict, and Chifuyu was just able to lend that hand to him.

I remembered seeing someone on Twitter somewhere saying that their headcanon was that Kazutora would have been more fitting as a police officer due to his strong sense of justice and etc., and though I agree that Kazutora is fundamentally oriented around the idea of justice as a character, (after all, his whole arc essentially goes from seeking twisted vengeance for himself to justify a fragile mindset where he’s never at fault, to finding justice for Mikey and ending the corruption in Toman), for some reason the idea of him becoming a cop just didn’t sit right with me? Probably because these kids themselves (including Kazutora) are running around in a gang.

And idk. Imo, even though they’re living in a perfect timeline where nothing bad ever happened — somehow. I’m glaring daggers right at the back of the author’s head. Shinichirou, Baji and everyone else who died should have stayed dead; that’s all I’m abt to say — it would be odd to establish a character that has canonically had repeated run-in’s with the law in the story itself to just become part of that system. Smth smth police brutality smth smth.

(Even in the timeline where he does end up working with the police force, he and Chifuyu are still operating as an independent entity from them; tldr he still doesn’t end up as a cop.)

It’s my own personal headcanon that Kazutora would become something along the lines of a social worker for troubled children; because not only does he know first hand what it’s like to grow up vulnerable in an abusive environment, it’s also a career that would still preserve that sense of justice that’s so integral to who he is as a person.

I know that’s already similar enough to what Izana has going on as a director for an NPO for underprivileged orphans, but I just wish Wakui was more creative with the ending if he just decided to retcon everything that’s ever happened ever. And with Baji’s hair as an adult. Actually, I wish that there wasn’t an overwrite with the timelines at all because it’s so antithetical to Tokyo Revengers’ inherent themes as a story of permanent consequences, but if I start talking about that then we’re just gonna be here all day.

However! My account = my house, and I am allowing myself this one exception because istg I genuinely despise the "Shinichirou t0uches kids" hypothesis when it’s construed as canon content. I wouldn't have a problem with discussion about gr00ming in media if the topic was handled in a sensitive way (see: one of my favorite characters in JJK being Mahito because as a character he displays how gr00ming as a process occurs and how predators prey on vulnerable targets), but the thing is with the Shinichirou "theory" is that there is no solid evidence that supports that line of thinking at all. That shit is held together by shoestring and lace be so fr.

And it's about Shinichirou? Shinichirou, who was left to be the parentified child when both of his parents passed? Shinichirou, who wasn't perfect, but tried to provide guidance for his little siblings in the ways that he feasibly could? Shinichirou, who loved his little brother so much that he would literally kill a man to bring him back? He's not exactly the figure that people idolize him as, but the keyword is that he's trying. I'm surprised that people focus on how he supposedly groomed Izana or Mikey as opposed to focusing on how he haunts the narrative, which imo is way more interesting since it’s later revealed that he’s not as angelic as the people who love him initially present him as.

I have no issues with people (keyword:) headcanoning sentiments about certain characters, and I do understand the desire for a deeper, darker spin on a story, but at the same time it's an entirely different issue if you go around assigning said personal sentiment as canon; when in reality, that's just your own personal interpretation!!!!!

"It's implied information; you have to read into it" if you really, really wanted to talk about a character that is even implied to gr00m someone in the story of Tokyo Revengers even if it's not in a s*xual way, (and to make things clear: this is my own personal interpretation) I'm surprised that more people in this fandom don't talk about Izana in regards to his interactions with Mikey.

To preface, I love Izana. I also hate Izana, LOL!! He’s just complex like that. I find him interesting because he is both a victim and a perpetrator; and although I understand how you ended up that way — and there are a ton of circumstances that he is subject to that are not his fault — there is also a point where you have to start taking accountability for actions that you are responsible for (ie. Emma's murder, because he did not have to go through with that, especially if all he wanted deep down was to be loved and accepted).

Explanations for behavior are not excuses. He was born into a grave with a shovel next to him, but instead of using it to try and get himself out of that pit, he digs down.

Tbh I could talk about the complexities of Izana's character all day, especially how his pent up rage and resentment poison his worldview, but I wanted to specifically address the way that he acts towards Mikey, because (again, even if it’s not necessarily s*xual in manner) he canonically gr00ms Mikey in order to become worse.

He isolates Mikey from the people that love him. He becomes Mikey’s sole pillar of support after Emma’s death. What he does as an antagonist is absolutely messed up, and he’s attributed to being one of the primary factors as to why Mikey devolved to be as bad as he was in the Manila timeline. After all, killing your friends when they disagree with you is a really easy conclusion to come to when you have a brother on your shoulder that wants nothing except for you to become an empty shell of your former self.

Anyways thank you for reading. This started out as a tirade about Shinichirou mischaracterization in fandom and ended up being about my opinions on Izana. I'm getting off my soapbox, I feel very strongly about this topic, and tldr get that Shinichirou slander OUT OF MY FACEEEE😭😭.

However, in the Tenjiku arc it was revealed that in actuality, his motivations had essentially sprung from the idea of what he thought other people wanted. As predictable as this plot twist was with him being in love with Hina or whatever, this culminates in his obsession, not only with her but also with Takemichi.

Kisaki always seemed to put Takemichi on this pedestal, constantly referring to him as “his hero” ie. His ideal for what he should strive for. This idolization even goes so far as to him drastically changing his whole appearance to mimic Takemichi’s (and his terrible haircut) because that’s what he thought that Hina wanted.

However he also does not fundamentally understand why Hina continues to choose Takemichi, nor does he understand what makes Takemichi so deserving of love and respect in the eyes of their peers.

It’s the idea of Hina that he’s obsessed with. It’s the idea of Takemichi that he wants to emulate.

So, that begs the question: who are you without your obsession?

A major defining feature of his character is that he is an incel. I don't pity Kisaki at all in the final timeline where he doesn't end up with Hina. Who cares!! It's her and Takemichi’s wedding!! It's not about him. He treats his rivalry with Takemichi as a competition with Hina as the consolation prize, when he hasn’t actually talked to her for years. At this point he doesn’t even know who she is as a person and how she may have changed; he’s just “in love” with the idea of her. And, as adults when he’s past the point of no return and she doesn’t return the sentiment? He kills her. It’s objectification due to misogyny and entitlement to her feelings at its absolute worst.

Outside of his all-consuming infatuation (that consists of rather shallow understanding), I honestly don’t think he would know how else to define his identity, because he’s revolved his entire personality around his unhealthy fixation on Hinata and Takemichi for so long.

(TLDR: He’s always doing things according to what he thinks other people want from him even if that is so far off from being the case. He takes his interpretation of their words rather than knowing how to define himself and who he is for himself.)

We also never know if Kisaki would ever grow out this entitled mindset because he’s never given the chance to. (Given, there is the whole line where he talks about never giving up on “making Tachibana my woman” which suggests he won’t ever change but I digress.) I know that a ton of people in the TR fandom are heavily unsympathetic towards him, and tbf so am I. He did a lot of evil shit, he has a body count of three, and he deserved what was coming to him.

However, at this point he’s also thirteen years old? He’s a child, and it’s weird that the story actively writes him as an irredeemable antagonist that will always be evil no matter what. For some reason, proper intervention just never matters. Killing him off was treated as the only option that they even had for everyone (except Mikey) to have a good, happy ending in the Bonten timeline.

In my apparently controversial opinion, treating a thirteen year old like that is actually crazy.

As fitting as his terrible end was with the truck running him over, it also felt like a plot device so that Kisaki would die without Takemichi having to sacrifice his morals. Like “now you don’t have to feel guilty for doing X Y and Z!! Now you can just feel guilty about the fact that he died!! It’s not like you had any part to play in it.”

Giving Kisaki the chance to change would have definitely caused a lot of friction in the story considering how he was responsible for the murders (in previous and present timelines) of many beloved characters. I fear the fandom would have not forgiven Wakui for that, so it would have been significantly better to avoid the topic entirely.

However, it’s sad that (if I may emphasize again) a thirteen year old(!!!) is treated as indiscriminately evil, and yeah that’s the thought.
