Pick your poison or come to both!  The UCB show will be fun and weird with a bunch of your favorite performers, or come to Book Soup for a convo with my pal Jessica St. Clair of Playing House.

Go to a sing-along in a Brooklyn coffee shop, check out a pre-school, hang around at the playground. If no one calls the cops on you for being a creep, you’ll see the same thing everywhere: dads. Dads, dads, dads! 

There’s dads like us everywhere these days:  changing diapers, pushing strollers, desperately trying to reason with screaming children.  

But where are the books for us?  Moms have lots of funny parenting books to drink wine to.  But most books for dads either treat us like idiots or they’re full of useful, but boring information.

This book is different. Man vs. Child is about the absurdity of being a dad today: from your blissful pre-baby days through when your kid is off at school, probably talking shit about you. It’s a companion to help you through the hard times, like when you need something to read on the toilet and your phone is dead.

E-MPROV.com presents Improvising Fatherhood - an improv show about the comedy of being a dad.

I'm excited to re-announce that I will be hosting a live comedy show on the Internet this Sunday. The show will feature popular Dad bloggers Charlie Capen and Andy Herald, authors of www.HowToBeADad.com, and David Vienna, author of www.theDaddyComplex.com. 

The show will also feature NY-based improvisers Doug Moe, author of www.manvchild.com, and Josh Eakright (Second City, iO Chicago, UCBNY).

We'll discussing the topic of fatherhood and answering any questions you might have for us. Then we will use that discussion to inspire improv comedy.

My friend Alan posted this picture on Facebook with the caption "Things I was storing at my parents house that I either forgot about or thought were lost."

This random assortment of garbage is beautiful.  It is such a boy's collection.  Knives, throwing stars, a screwdriver.  Boys love this stuff.  But everyone acquires crazy junk.  And at some point you move away and you make your parents keep your crazy junk.  And then - even though they have PLENTY OF ROOM - they make you come back and go through it.  

I went through one of those weird old boxes a little while ago and it was full of school play programs signed by people I don't remember, green "participation" ribbons from swim meets of my youth, and a bunch of comic books that I predict are worth a million dollars.

When you're a kid, getting STUFF is one of the best things.  On the road recently, my daughter got not one, but two, crowns from Burger King in what she dubbed "The Best Day Ever."  But she is always the most excited by the schwag she acquires at birthday parties and elsewhere.  And she acquires a lot.  Just in the last few days, she's brought into the house the following:

She found this business card and wants to send it to my parent's dog because she thinks she will like it.

This bowling pin water bottle came from a bowling birthday party she went to.  She is astounded that the red stripes are actually rubber bands.  She has been puzzling over this fact all week.

And a classic:  one of those weird little turtles that grows when soaked in water.  When do you throw these things out?  The answer:  when they get disgusting.

Ahhhh Father's Day!  I don't want to clog up your Father's Day with too much Father's Day reminiscing.  Lord knows that the memories of Father's Day growing up are among my favorites.

I remember my brother and I waking up and making pancakes with my mom to bring to my dad for breakfast in bed.  I'm not sure he ate them because...wait a minute.  That *might* have been Mother's Day.  We *might* have been bringing pancakes to my mom with my dad's help, now that I think about it.

Well, there was that one year that...

Nope, that was Mother's Day too.
