Madeline “Mad” Vasquez - a tall, perceptive, and severely near-sighted Afro-Latina who is deceptively quiet. Growing up with an ever-busy and -tired mother, an absent father, and a troubled past has forged a fighting spirit within Madeline that is always ready to take a stand for justice. Childhood bullies mistook her silence for meekness; they were wrong. Her heart is a bit more guarded than most, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have some soft spots. Madeline is a talented cellist and - secretly - a wonderful singer. She has a brother she has never met, and a life-altering trip she has yet to take.
Damien Robinson - the ambiverted son of a son of an Irishman who has a love for autumn colors and a hatred of his red hair. He has a knack for mischief, but it’s much, much more controlled than most think; his love for trouble conceals cleverness that went unappreciated as a child. Despite the confident (and, according to Madeline, annoyingly permanent) smile, Damien can be quite bashful; he also never truly reveals how much something hurts, whether it be from a fall off a rock cliff or a harsh word. He stumbles on something that was meant to stay out of sight, forever changing both his life and Madeline’s.
One would tell you that they became friends by accident. The other would say it was fate. They eventually come to agree.
These characters have been around for about 7 to 9 years! I can’t help but come back to them... Perhaps they have a story that needs to be drawn out.
