Because Your Job and Certainly Your Profession Does Not Define You!
No one comes into life wishing to die!
After working for some time with a client who experienced wicked change in their life, asked me how do I carry on, I did not respond with verbal dierera by saying what I do. Instead I asked them what difference would it make in their life if I shared what I do as opposed to what they ‘HOPED FOR’ from their life.
This is an approached that I have learned from my studies in Solution Focued Brief Therapy with my instructor Elliotte Connie and his team of psychotherapists. I use any of the four aspects of the Diamond approcach that helps my clients refocus on their needs and bring out a client’s meaning of what life means to them and that they wish to support.
The conversation brought out how they tried to follow the socially expected track to success only to experience pain in their personal relationships and disappointment in their professional efforts even with two PhD’s, a slu of association awards and even request to consult for various interests. Once again instead of me exposing some wisdom of the elder's thoughts, which by this way I believe in such intellectual and spiritual perspectives, allow me to share with you a mini document entitled, Dying Out of Sight’, aired on NHK Japan Watch, more over listen to the concerns expressed. Take note to the age of those that begin to doubt their usefulness in our societies. Most importantly Connect the dots of how Japanese society needs are like our own.
We are all humans seeking to connect in safe, productive and meaningful ways. https://lnkd.in/eea4XEuS
Litmus test: Have you seen the increased numbers of suicide billboards up and down the eastern seaboard? It is a testament to the breaking down of our social fabric as humans seeking purpose!
