Kenshin became very awkward, almost going limp; the coolwind hitting his bare back, hinched over as he was, made none of this any more comfortable.Besides, this wasn’t like her at all, to be so undecided.Absolute, yes; demanding, too. But never faltering. Yet, this was the tenth time she gave him direction this evening.

At least he had her bare shoulders to look at, for some inspiration. “I thinkit’s fine...”

She glanced fleetingly between his thighs. “No, it isn’t; it needs more length.”

He tried to school his face in a neutral expression. “...this is as long as it can go, we both know that.”

“Maybe if you-”

“It isn’t a naginata, Kaoru-dono. And if you could decide what the best pose is...”

She looked at him for a long, stubborn time before she finally sighed, looking dejected. “Alright. You’ll just stand like this, if it’s more comfortable, but you need to hold the shinai with both hands; the photographer said he wanted something dynamic.” She shrugged at Kenshin’s reaction at the mention of photographer. “Hopefully, this little stunt will draw attention to the demonstration; photography is all the rage nowadays...”

Kenshin’s smile returned easily, standing normally again. A hand on her shoulder later, she turned to face him. “The demonstration will be a great turn-out, I’m sure. Yahiko is strong; people like him. They will come.” A pause. “And if not them, then you, with your kimono askew like this...”

@steinbecks @baelor @majothemexican ahaha so this is sort of the result of a two-week impulse decision born of feeling really, really stuck career-wise right now and a close friend moving there in june. i’m moving to shenzhen to teach. my friend’s been trying to talk me into considering it for a while now, and i kinda hit a wall and need a change and this seems like as big a change as any SO i applied and got the job. i’ll be living with my friend and teaching at the same company.

i’m actually a little nervous and sad to leave family nearby but i AM very excited and i think i really need this - anyway this is partly why i’ve been silent online lately i’ve been trying to work on this and work work and now i’m gonna have to work while doing my visa and tefl certification and moving and shit but i’ll be there for at least a year and i’ll hopefully have a great time and a good experience! now i actually have to re-learn how to speak chinese

Right now. Immediately. Dammit, if they want to be your friends, then you are gonna cancel. Repeatedly. It’s hard to be friends with someone that has mental health issues, and they’re in this thing or they’re out, but they don’t need to make you feel worse about it. (I have bipolar, my husband has depression, and it’s not pretty. But we’re doing our best and so are you.)

this is exactly how i feel. which is why i’ll just keep canceling and avoiding them if i have to.

(i’m in an odd situation where it is 95% likely i’ll have to leave the country in a few months which is why i’m kind of not bothered but i know that’s disrespecting them and our friendship BUT i’ll think about that after diss)
