“It’s the year 2020.  I’m sorry... I had to bring you with me.  If you’d gone on that drive with Dad, you would have died.”

“Yeah, Mom? What about?” Tony replied to his mother curiously, what could it be that she wanted to talk about. 

“Anthony, my God What? Why didn’t you tell me sooner. I’ll be right there.” Maria said.

She didn’t even both to tell Jarvis where she was going even though he was following behind her because she was no panicking.

“What hospital are you at? And what happened?” Maria asked after catching her breathe and starting the car.

Maria walked close to him over by the bed. She took his hand in hers. She felt the tears come back into her emerald eyes as she looked at him.

“They didn’t even tell me oher the phone what was wrong. So I just.” She trailed off.

“What happened?” She asked softly.

Her eyes avoiding his gaze seeing how badly his face looked made her heart hurt a little more.

Tony hadn't heard much past that in his conversation with Ana, and he'd been focusing on it for the last two days. It had taken him that long to work up to calling his mother. His biological mother, as he described her, rather harshly, to his partners. He missed her. He regretted cutting her off when he had his father, but it had felt unavoidable, and it wasn't as though they'd ever been particularly close. He'd certainly never felt close to her. And how could she ever understand his arrangement? It had even taken Edwin several months to wrap his head around.
