Rolling over✔ Holding our own bottle ✔ Sitting up ✔ Crawling ✔ Walking ✔ Saying “Mama” & “Dada” ✔ Eating table foods… sorta…
So here’s the deal. My daughter will eat crackers, chips, yogart, cheerios, french fries, bread in most forms but not fruit or vegetables. She’s a year now and it seems she eat at daycare but not at home. I can get her to eat veggies and fruit in baby foods still but I am just trying to progress her to table foods.
Teaching a human to eat is hard.
She has gotten 5 teeth so far and we’re working on a 6th. So I understand that there’s some conflict with her mouth hurting and all. Teething has been rough on her. She bites on things just to soothe her gums. I imagine teething feeling like needing a root canal. So I can completely understand her struggle. I just get frustrated. Not frustrated with her but moreso in the sense of me failing her. She needs to eat. Now, granted she is not starving. She’s solid, over 20 lbs and healthy from what her pediatrician tells me. So maybe I just need to breathe and chill out.
I was advised that she’ll eat when she’s hungry. I just have to keep working on it. I’ll sit her in the high chair and try to eat when she does. Sometimes I give her food from my plate. Meanwhile she’s laughing, making a mess, throwing food on the ground. Sometimes we sit there for over an hour just trying things.
I try to feed her something and she may eat it she may not. I put something down that she can grab and feed herself with she pokes at it and leaves it there. But let there be something around like a piece of paper or charger cord and she’s ready to eat that! Haha. I just don’t understand. Each baby is different. I have to remember that. She may not be fully ready for all table foods. She's certainly not "wasting away" or starving though.
One day at a time. We’ll get there. She’s finally using her sippy cup more and Jah knows that was a struggle. I am literally teaching a person to eat and it is blowing my mind.
