Jack was about 14 months old when we flew down to Florida! The flight going there was terrible, he was up the whole time wanting to walk up and down and basically say hi to everyone on the plane. People were giving him snacks at one point. He fell asleep as soon as the plane landed because he was just exhausted. The flights coming back home was much smoother, he slept for more than 2hours ! Here are some tips I learned and why the flights back was better! Babies in general are super curious little people! They like to explore where they are especially if it's somewhere new with a lot of people. My little one is especially sociable and wants to meet everyone! Going to FL I made the mistake of keeping him in the stroller in the airport hoping he would sleep and then continue sleeping on us when we got on the plane, as we booked the flights around his nap time. But no way did he sleep in the airport or in the plane. He skipped his nap altogether and was extra cranky yet excited. Coming back from FL, we did the opposite, we let him roam around the airport until his little heart was content, we let him wave to people, climb on the seats and basically tire himself out. By the time we were boarding the plane he was tired and I put on his favorite lullaby, twinkle star! I played it till we got in our seats. Once the plane took off, I gave him the bottle and he wasn't even interested about the people around him..he just knocked out!! Also, having the window seat helped a lott! When he woke up there were no tears and we must have had 20 minutes left to land, just enough time for a snack! So there's my tip for a smooth airplane ride to your family's next adventure!
