Do you have any optimism that this whole disaster is gonna have actual tangible consequences for the CCP (or whatever it is idc)? Will organizations and nations actually start rethinking their relationships with it?
It's already happening. We are actively pushing to manufacture medicine and other items domestically. I mean, we were pulling back from China BEFORE this happened.
I certainly hope this gets us all away from relying on China for so much. I think we should go after China for every red cent of that relief bill. Will it happen at that scale? Probably not. But there is a shift happening at least in the US.

I’m really interested in seeing the breakdown of how a woman of color lead superhero movie from a popular established franchise was better received than a white woman lead superhero movie from a popular established franchise - and making it all about misogyny and identity politics, because god knows one movie can’t possibly be better than the other based on actual execution and merit. Everyone knows that all movies are exactly the same and equal.
The pre-release backlash can’t really be explained by differences in quality because it was, ya know, PRE-RELEASE. As in....all the angry angry dude bros bombing the RT scores with bots hadn’t seen it yet.
And no, WW and CM are not exactly the same. They have their own strengths and weaknesses, and I think which one a person prefers would depend a lot on personal preference. I think objectively, they are both, ya know, B+/A- kind of area. Good, enjoyable, not perfect, pretty different in tone and structure.
But my point is the level of outrage thrown at both these movies, but especially CM is unusual. We don’t see that for OTHER superhero movies, even ones that are desperately mediocre, like Ant-Man or Doctor Strange.
And my video, which you haven’t seen yet, talks about some of the reasons that we might have seen more backlash against CM over all than WW, though, WW still saw plenty herself (especially with the Antisemitism from more left-leaning parts of the internet.)

I love exploring all his traumas and issues and his deep connections to the family that he’s lost and the one that he’s found. He’s got a lot of contrasts in his character, too. He’s something of a death-seeker but on another level he’s afraid to die, he considers himself a failure when he’s survived so much, he wants to stay distant but then ends up falling ass over teakettle in love with this little family comprised of a smuggler lady and her two adopted kids. Also, I just love Tired Sad Dad characters and I want to give him some tea and a blanket and a hug and a bunch of therapy because he DESERVES IT, GOD DAMN IT.

Axl would prolly not be impressed at ALL by the daughters, like girl why you gotta be so dirty... take a shower, child. As for Lady D herself, he'd have a hard time knowing how to respond to her. Like being faced with another vampire that scary and that TOL would for sure trigger some of that inferiority complex but the only way he knows how to deal with competition like that is to fight them, and dude you can't hit a lady.

Alternatively... he gets into a fight with the daughters cause they irritate him and then Lady D has to stomp him into the floorboards
Vlad is the BIGGEST FUCKIN fanboy but he's also still an idiot so he still doesn't catch on that these gals are actual real vampires, and will probably have to be rescued before he just accidentally lets them eat him
