[Earth 717 - Kamar Tajâ]
America was lying on a bed while Strange was examining her brain under the eyes of almost everyone. On a balcony, Natasha was there, looking at the horizon, when she heard some footsteps behind her.
âDo you think sheâs having trouble right now?â Pietro stood beside her, looking at the view.
The retired assassin looked at him for a brief moment before looking away. âKnowing her, I would not be surprised, but I hope she found some people that would help her and would help her.â They stayed like that a few seconds before your mom talked again. âSo, whatâs the problem with America?â
âStrange thinks sheâs having a bad time with her power, but Wanda is not convinced about that.â
âWhy?â
âJust a feeling. She thinks that it must be because of that strange machine, and honestly I think so too, but Iâm sure there is something else.â That intrigued the Russian, who looked at him with pure confusion. âI don't know; itâs just that countless things that involved Khrono are more complex than they seem.â

Next to the room where America was resting, Morgan was staring at the wall in front of her, entirely ignoring everything happening around her. She could hear faint voices but didnât want to make the effort of actually listening until someone touched her shoulder, finally getting her attention.
She looked behind her to find Yelena and Kate talking at her about something but wasnât focused enough to clearly distinguish what they were saying.
â...we think that maybe it could reach her even if she would not be able to respond.â The archer said with a very enthusiastic expression.
ââScuse me, I didnât hear you.â The young Stark replied, a little confused.
âKate proposed to send a message to Y/n through her widow bites. If she could send us a signal, maybe we can do it too, and even if she canât respond, at least she would know that weâre doing anything to get her back so she doesnât need to worry too much.â Yelena explained this time.
Morgan looked at them for a long moment before storming out of the room. She immediately barged into the next room, scaring Wanda and Strange in the process.
âWe can talk to Y/n,â she announced before leaving, searching for Natasha and her dad.
------
[Earth 616 - New York Sanctum]
Strange was meditating when someone entered the Sanctum completely panicked.Â
âDoctor, itâs America; you need to help her.â Peter was carrying the poor girl in the manor.
The sorcerer immediately brought her into a spare room where he summoned all sorts of circles of light to know what was wrong with the girl. He examined everything with Peter by his side, looking at him and praying that his friend would be alright.
-------
[Earth 717 - Avenger Tower]
Everyone was gathered in the training room, where Morgan disposed of an old model of one of her dadâs armors in front of them.
âI modify him to actually send a message specifically to Y/n based on the signal we received earlier. We donât know where she is and if sheâs okay. We will record something for her in the hope that she finds a way to reply. If she does, we will be able to find her.â
It was a crazy idea, but it wasnât like they had another one, so they had to try.
-------
[Earth 616 - Avenger Tower]
âNow come on, tell me, who are you, Scarlet?â
You looked at your mom from the past, something was odd. She had a different aura, like something you saw when you had to fight against Agatha Harkness.
âOh, you donât want to talk, huh? Too bad I donât have all the time with you.â She opened the door and entered the room. She walked until she was facing you.
You tried to open your mouth, but something felt uncanny. It was your mom; you were sure about that, but somehow the magic inside you was yelling at you to run. The Scarlet Witch raised her arm until her hand reached your face.
Something in you was waiting for a sort of motherly comfort at the tip of her finger, but their coldness froze you once they reached your forehead.
âShh, let me look at you.â
She was invading your mind. Correction: she tried to invade her mind, but something blocked her.
There she was in the middle of a storm of pure chaos magic. Wanda looked around, but there was nothing to see except the red color from your inert magic.
In the middle of the storm, a silhouette was looking back at her; she could feel a real presence from this shadow, which intrigued her even more. The ginger woman struggled to put one foot in front of the other, but she didnât give up until she reached the silhouette.
Wanda could feel the magic emanating from it. Her instinct told her to capture it. To absorb it. She tried to, but then she started to hear it. A voice.
âBack off! Get out! Leave my daughter alone!â The Sokovian didnât have an opportunity to process it until she was projected into the wall behind her.
Hearing the noises, the Avenger came to the room, where they found both of you fainted on the ground. Natasha rushed to you while Steve was checking on Wanda.
âHey, Scarlet, do you hear me? What happened?â The Russian asked, but you couldnât answer. âBruce, do something, please.â Everyone started to panic while hearing Natashaâs shaking voice.
While Bruce was checking on you, they evacuated Wanda to the nursery, where she could receive the care she needed.
In the meeting room an hour later, everyone was watching the footage of what happened, but nobody really understood what they saw.
âIt seemed like Wanda tried to use her power on our little guest, but her own fought back.â Steve said, looking at anyone for any clue, but no one knew.
Dr. Cho and Maria exchanged a confused look before looking at Fury. He seemed unmoved, but it was clear that something was bothering him. The one-eyed man looked at the screen and thought about the discovery earlier; something was not right.
Bucky wanted to say something but got interrupted by Friday.
âAvengers, Ms. Maximoff just woke up.â The AI informed them.
âTell her to join us here.â Fury commanded.
A few minutes later, Wanda was facing her ex-teammates, but none of them dared to say anything.
âAgent Maximoff, it looks like you have a lot of things to tell us about what happened in this room.â
âI donât know what happened.â Wanda confessed, which didnât really help them. âI tried to help you; I tried to search for some information in her mind, but something or someone was blocking me from the access. It looked like a silhouette of a woman. I donât know who she was, but she told me that Scarlet was her daughter.â
Fury looked at Maria and Dr. Cho, who were clearly just waiting for his approval to tell everyone about their discovery, but he didnât.
âOkay, I see. Iâll let you rest. For now we will focus on the old method of interrogation.â
~~~~
Two hours later, in your room, you were still unconscious, deep into a strange dream.
You were lost in the dark when you heard someone run really fast beside you. You looked around and just had enough time to see your favorite speedster until the background changed. Noises from a battle could be heard in the background, but you couldn't find where you were until a robot too familiar was about to shoot you before the bullets were stopped.
You looked in the direction of your assaulters to find Pietro between you and a clone of Ultron. He was totally pierced through the body by the bullets. Your uncle looked in your direction and smirked.Â
"You didn't see that coming." He said before falling on the ground. You tried to reach him, but you were stopped by a loud scream. You knew this voice; it was your mom, but her voice seemed more painful than usual, and before you could be hit by a huge wave of chaos magic, someone dragged you far away. While this person ran with you, in the end of one of their hands you saw some flash of moments that seemed to be memories but not yours.
And then finally the stranger let you on a road in front of a sign where something was written. You couldn't read the totality of what was written, but from the road where you were, you could guess it was something like 'welcome to'. Despite that, one word was still perfectly clear: Westview. You wanted to enter the city, but a flash of light surprised you, and you woke up.
You looked around to find yourself in the same room for a while now. This was just a dream, but it seemed so real. You still had the feeling that you lost him just in front of you. And when you knew it shouldn't be the best thing to do, you tried something.
"Friday? Can you tell me where is Pietro Maximoff?" You asked loudly to be heard by the AI.
"Pietro Maximoff, twin brother of Wanda Maximoff, died in Sokovia during the attack of Ultron, Miss." The AI replied. You didn't thank her; you couldn't find the word. It's impossible.
He was supposed to teach you how to ride a bike for your fourth birthday, and he was supposed to be your confidant, the person you trusted the most. He should be the one who always helped to make up with your moms after your arguments. He couldn't be dead, right?
"Miss, are you alright?" Friday asked after your silence.
"Can you call Wanda?" You asked her, surprised by your own calm attitude.
"Of course," she replied, and you thanked her. In the common room, the Avengers were talking about something that Wanda didn't even pretend to be interested in until the AI spoke. "Ms. Maximoff? Miss Scarlet wants to see you." She announced, and everyone looked confused.
The witch didn't wait; she could finally escape this boring, unofficial meeting. She walked fast to where you were; she stopped in front of you and took a deep breath. It was the second time she was here today, but this time something felt different.
"What is Westview?" You asked, and she lost her composure.
"Where did you find this?" She asked, visibly confused by your question.
"That's not the point right now. Just answer, please. What is it?" You repeated.
"It's a little town."
"And what does this little town have that's so special?"
"What do you mean?"
"I had a dream about something related toâŚyou, and this name came out of nowhere."
The Sokovian took a pause to process what you said. "What type of dream?"Â
"That's not the question m-Wanda."Â
"You said you dream about something related to me, so I think I have all the right to know what type of dream brings you there."
"Not what type of dream, but who brings me there. Someone brought me there, and when I tried to enter the city, something woke me up." You explained, and now she was curious. "But that's not the only thing that caught my attention. Before I woke up, I heard the voice of Vision and two little boys." You added.Â
The older woman paled at your confession. "How is it possible?" She asked, visibly to herself, but unfortunately for her, you heard it.
"What do you mean? Wanda, what did you do to them?" You asked, now worried.
"It shouldn't happen like that." She said, and you were pretty sure she was about to cry. "They should be gone now. You were not supposed to hear them."Â
"Wanda, who are the boys?" You tried to ask calmly.
"They are my sons." She replied before she started to cry. At these words, your world seemed to fall apart. That's not possible, right? She should be joking. You never had big brothers. If you did, your moms would tell you, right?Â
"What happened to them?" You managed to spill out from your dried throat.
The witch sobbed, and she wanted to reply, but Strange came from nowhere like always. "She created them." He informed you, and you furrowed your eyebrows.
"No! They are real." Wanda argued.
"Why?" You said loudly to no one in particular.
"Maybe because I needed a family. They are my boys." She replied, but you were shocked after hearing her explanation.
"No! You had Pietro." You said more loudly than you planned, but the thought of your own mom, who seemed more attached to those imaginary boys than you, was enough to make you angry.Â
"You don't know what you say!" She argued.
"Of course I know! You always said that the family is more important than anything, but you let your own brother die!" At the echoes of the screams, the Avengers decide to make their way to where you were. "You're an Avenger; your job is to protect the people who need help!"
"You think it's easy to wake up every morning to know that you're alone here because your own twin died not so far from you!?"Â
At this moment anyone who could hear your argument could tell you were both angry and sad, but they didn't know why you seemed so sad to lose the young speedster.
"You should have tried."Â
"Because you think I didn't."
"You should have tried harder!" Even if you looked intimidating when you raised your voice, the little trace of sadness broke the heart of Clint. "L-ai lÄsat sÄ moarÄ. Mi-ai luat vÄrul de lângÄ mine! VÄ urÄsc! [You let him die. You took my cousin away from me! I hate you!]"
The Avengers finally reached where the three of you were, and from the expression of Wanda, even if they didn't speak Sokovian, they could guess you said something really hurtful. Natasha escorted the witch somewhere else and a lot of them.Â
Clint exchanged a look with Strange to let him know he could handle this. When everyone left, the archer entered your room; he didn't say anything, and neither did you. He sat next to you and wrapped his arm around your shoulder; you wrapped your arms around him and started to cry.
can you write mama!Natasha with a teething baby that chews and bites everything please
Headcannon: Mama!Nat with a teething baby and that bites everything
Mama!nat x baby!fem!reader
Warnings: fluff, Kate and yelena being menaces to the team, mentions of breastfeeding
- you were around six months old and you started teething
- it broke her heart to see her baby in so much pain
- stole Tonyâs black card so she could buy whatever toys and other essentials you need
- Tony wasnât even mad because it hurt his heart (that he somewhat has-)
- Nat bought you all sorts of soothing toys and things for you to help with the pain
- the oral gel she got for you helps with the pain
- sheâll put some of the gel on the toys that you love to chew on and it seems to be the best way to help you
- since you are teething, you love to chew and bite on everything you see
- you are like a puppy that wants to get into everything which amuses everyone
- four sharp teeth starts to come out of your pink gums which shocks everyone on how fast they came and how sharp they are
- auntie yelena and Kate love to see what you can bite and what you canât
- of course they will never give you something that will hurt you but they like to have a little fun with you
- if Natasha catches them, they will get a head smack and a nice talk on how to not to use her baby as an experiment
- yelena and Kate love handing you to the avengers and tell them to put their finger in your mouth (of course they wash their hands) and see what happens
- they will think youâll nibble on it but they cry out in pain as you chomp onto their finger, making yelena and Kate laugh loudly
- Natasha loves to breastfeed you, itâs a beautiful bond between the mom and the baby but since you have four sharp teeth now, itâs been kinda difficult since you love to bite everything
- all in all, even though it was a painful experience for you and for your family, it was a beautiful cycle of life and everyone who cares about you got to see it in front of their eyes and to comfort you in anyway they can
your leg bounces up and down nervously as you sit in the quinjet with bruce. at age sixteen, you are currently the youngest (and only) avenger in training. if it were up to your mother, you would be safe in the tower with maria hill but you are a valuable asset. you are the hidden trick the avengers have up their sleeve.
you were found in an abandoned hydra base by clint barton, having been left to die after the scientists had no use for you. in the two years you were with hydra, they had tried countless of experiments on you, each one seemingly failed. what they didnât know was that one of them had worked- you were now enhanced. but your powers always had a mind of their own, and it had kept itself hidden- up until you were taken in by clint and laura.
it was one of lauraâs favourite stories to tell, much to clintâs displeasure. they had been moving into a new place, a bigger one to accommodate you and the coming baby. clint had been bringing in boxes after boxes and you stuck close to lauraâs side, both of you watching him do the work. as clint carried a particularly heavy set of boxes, he tripped and suddenly you were on your feet, hands shooting out with a blue magic flowing from them. clint had braced himself for the hard impact of the the ground but when he opened his eyes, he saw the boxes floating up the walkway to the house and he was held up by your magic. you slowly righted him and the three of you just stood in stunned silence before clint broke it.
âyouâre telling me you couldâve used your magic for all these boxes?!â
to their credit, the bartons took your newly found powers in stride. they helped you work on training it, allowing you to use them for mundane tasks to help you get used to them. in their care, you slowly flourished. thatâs when they found about your mother.
you rarely spoke about your time in hydra, but once you started speaking about your mama, itâs like you never wanted to stop. before hydra, you remember a woman with hair as red as yours. she trained you, taught you everything she could before you were taken away. you spoke about her promise, and the bartons never knew what to say- not wanting to let you lose the little hope you had left.
-
two years after natasha romanoffâs graduation ceremony, a baby was placed in her arms. she was told that it was hers, born from her egg, her own daughter. she was told to train you, and so she did. the red room had counted on her training keeping her impartial, but a motherâs instinct is something they could never smother. you were six when they had realised their mistake- and they ripped you away from her, given to hydra for their experiments. taking you away was their second mistake, because natasha ran. she spent the next three years staying hidden all while tracking you down. when she finally does, she shows up on clintâs doorstep with a proposition. in exchange for her and your safety, she will defect to shield and take down the red room.
you were the ace of the team for two main reasons, your power and your training. not only were you on the way to becoming just as skilled as natasha, your powers added an extra advantage. telekinesis and your ability to form shields stronger than the hulk as well as capâs shield meant that you could do beyond what anyone else in the team could.
the team had argued back and forth before you were allowed to come on this mission. but you knew they needed you, especially with wanda and pietro maximoff in the picture.
âguys? is this a code green?â bruceâs voice snaps you out of your nerves, but it only grows when you hear nothing but static.
you take a deep breath, pushing yourself up from where you were sitting on the ground. âstay here, iâll go in.â
before bruce can stop you, your hands glow a brilliant blue as you speed off to the ship. you let your eyes close momentarily as you try and remember everything natasha taught you. your eyes flutter open when you feel the hum of someoneâs magic- it had to be wanda. zoning in on it, you speed up and you can only hope you are able to take her on.
you stay hidden as you walk through the ship. you hear thorâs words through your intercom and your steps speed up. a flash of red has you tensing- but the shield you had around you repels the cloud of red that surrounds you. you hear a gasp as you push your magic out, and you pull yourself and wanda into a room to your left.
wandaâs strong, you can see it in the way her power swirls a brilliant red. but her training was incomparable to yours, as thor had been the one in charge of your training. your magic pushes her against the wall, another barrier coming up to block the entrance of the room should the other maximoff decide to appear.
the red smoke disappears and you have to stop the gasp that falls from your lips. you knew from the moment maria pulled up their photos that the twins were the ones you had met all those years ago. but seeing her in person sucks the wind out of you. it seems that wanda recognises you too as she stops struggling against your magic.
you both pause as you regard each other, the sounds of the fight around you growing fainter. you break the silence first.
âhi wanda.âyour voice is shaky and you have to resist the urge to drop your magic just to hug her. the twins had been the only reason you survived in hydra. their presence had been the biggest comfort through all the pain the scientists put you through day after day.
âim sorry.â it comes out as almost a whisper, and you see the way wandaâs eyes glisten âwe shouldâve fought harder for you. to take you along. we thought..â
the unsaid words hang in the air. you swallow thickly.
âwhy are you working for them? did they-â wandaâs eyes harden as her next words spill out âdid they take you too? did they use you? experiment on you?â
you shake your head, âno. they saved me- the archer, he found me and took me in. my magic was from one of the experiments they did, it just didnât become active til after.â
wanda regards you quietly, and you feel a bead of sweat trickle down the back of your neck. itâs now or never.
âcome with us. the both of you, please. ultron he.. he wants to destroy the world, not save it. please, donât fall for it. you can still walk away.â your voice is almost pleading.
âif ultron canât tell the difference between saving the world and destroying it- where do you think he gets that? why would i work with him.â she hisses, and you remember the way you comforted her after her nightmares. the way she would mumble in her sleep, begging tony stark to spare her and her brother from death.
âbecause you are better than him. if tony stark canât tell the difference- you can. you can make the choice.â
wanda sees your eyes glow and you pull pietro into the room, your magic swirling around him. you look at the both of them, and wanda is captivated at the way your power flows around you, surrounding you in a soft glow.
âi know you were dealt shitty cards. but you choose the life you want to lead at the end of the day.â you know that youâre making progress, however small, because not once has wanda tried to use her powers on you. âso please, make the better choice here. help us stop ultron.â
the twins look at each other, and you watch carefully. pietro turns to you then, speaking to you for the first time.
âyouâve grown up well.â your lips stretch into a soft smile. âbut i donât want to work with tony stark.â
âthen donât. think of it as working with me, with the others.â you think of the rest of your team, and you can only hope that they made it out safe. or that natasha hadnât gone full mama bear mode when she realised youâre not on the quinjet. âtony stark is doing his best to right his wrongs and i know he has a long way to go. but right now this is beyond him.â
the twins share another glance and you can see pietro sigh. you got them.
the walk to the quinjet was silent, the twins in front of you and your magic on the standby. you see a figure run towards you and you place a hand on wandaâs shoulder when you see her hands raise almost instinctively. you step in front of the twins and natasha engulfs you in a fierce hug.
she pulls away and inspects you, her warm hand on your cheek as she looks for any injuries before scanning the rest of your body. when she decides youâre safe, she breaths a sigh of relief. her gaze shifts to behind you where the twins are still standing. you see the rest of the team come out and steve speaks first.
âhe got away with the vibranium. we donât know where he went,â he looks to the twins âi donât suppose you two have any idea what he plans to do with the vibranium?â
when the twins shake their head, tony lets out a scoff and the twins immediately tense up.
âcut it out stark.â the words tumble from your lips before you can stop them and he looks at you incredulously.
âyou do realise they could still be in cahoots with him right? dont you find it a little strange?â tony raises a brow at you and you roll your eyes. the rest of the team watches you quietly, natasha reaching out to rub your arm.
âtheyâre on our side now, and iâm not gonna let your ego drive them away. i trust them and if you donât then suck it up.â you pause before adding, âif they go, i go. if you choose to not have them come with us when we do find ultron you wonât have me either.â
you see the way tony flinches and you knew you hit a nerve. you feel a little guilty, tony had been good to you over the years. but he also created a robot that wants to destroy the world and now that the twins are back, you donât want to lose them again.
Spider-Girl bitten more than she could chew in the field ft Natasha Romanoff
The sun dipped below the skyline of New York City, casting long shadows across the bustling streets. Y/N Parker, twin sister to the city's famed superhero Spider-Man, found a rare moment of peace on a quiet rooftop. The gentle breeze played with her hair as she gazed at the city below. Tonight, for once, it seemed like the city was at peace.
Little did she know that tranquillity was a fleeting concept in a superhero's life.
Without warning, the air trembled with a deafening crash. Y/N's head snapped towards the source of the sound. Smoke billowed in the distance, a stark contrast to the golden hues of the setting sun. Her instincts kicked in, and Spider-Girl mode was on. She swung from building to building, closing the distance to the chaos.
As Y/N arrived at the scene, the source of the disturbance became apparent... a building, once standing tall and proud, now crumbled like a house of cards. Panic and fear painted the faces of those trapped beneath the debris. Y/N's heart raced as she assessed the situation, her thoughts flashing to the countless training sessions with her brother.
She had to act fast.
The first responders were on their way, but every second counted. Y/N sprang into action, using her enhanced strength to lift beams and clear paths. The mask hid her expressions, but the grim determination was evident in every movement. Her limbs ached, but she pushed through the pain. People needed her.
Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was returning from a mission abroad, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding in her city. Her mind was still focused on the shadows of her past, on the faces she couldn't erase. But as she neared New York, a strange feeling crept over her, a premonition that something was wrong.
Y/N's efforts were tireless. She saved lives, pulling people from the wreckage, offering words of reassurance when her own strength wavered. As the last survivor was pulled to safety, a sudden weakness swept over her. Fatigue settled in, and the pain she'd been suppressing surged to the forefront.
Just as her legs threatened to give way, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.
Natasha - Dorogoy! (Đ´ĐžŃОгОК = my dear)
Natasha Romanoff, clad in her signature black suit, stood at the edge of the disaster zone. Her eyes widened at the sight of her non-official daughter, battered and bruised, yet still standing.
Without a word, Natasha rushed forward. Y/N's world spun, and she stumbled into Natasha's waiting arms. The weight of her injuries became too much, and the edges of her vision blurred.
Natasha held her, a mix of panic and concern etched across her features. This was the Black Widow, a woman who had faced gods and monsters without flinching, now struck dumb by the sight of a wounded girl.
Natasha - Sweetheart, talk to me.
The Black Widow's voice cut through the chaos as she stroked the younger girl's cheek. Y/N managed a weak smile beneath her mask.
Y/N - Just... had a busy day at the office.Â
As the girl joked even if her strength was failing, Natasha could only see how much influence Tony had on the kid.
Natasha's eyes narrowed with worry as she took in the extent of Y/N's injuries. It was a rare sight, the stoic Black Widow, momentarily shaken.
Natasha - Come on, honey. Let's get you home.
Natasha said with her tone a strange mix of command and softness.Â
With that, Natasha scooped Y/N into her arms, carrying her away from the disaster site. The Black Widow moved with a grace that misrepresented her strength, navigating the city's rooftops with ease. Y/N rested against Natasha's shoulder, the pain momentarily forgotten in the safety of those familiar arms.
As they arrived at the Parker's apartment, which was currently empty, Natasha gently laid her down on the couch. Y/N's breathing was laboured, but Natasha's gaze never wavered.
Y/N - I've had worse...Â
Insisted the teenager weakly, trying to downplay her injuries.
Natasha, however, wasn't buying it. With a gentle touch, she unmasked Y/N, revealing a face that mirrored both vulnerability and resilience. Natasha's fingers traced the edges of the bruises, her eyes reflecting an unspoken worry.
Natasha - You've done enough for today, princess. You scared me.Â
The older woman admitted with a rare vulnerability in her voice.
Y/N managed a weak laugh.Â
Y/N - Me? Scare the great Black Widow? I'm really sorry but I can't abandon my duties, Nat. People need help out there.
Natasha shot her a mock glare before her expression softened.Â
Natasha - And who's going to help you if you push yourself to the brink? You're family, Y/N. You're not allowed to scare me like this.
Y/N's response was lost in a stifled groan as Natasha began tending to her injuries. Natasha's hands moved with a skill born of years of combat, yet there was an uncharacteristic gentleness in her touch. Y/N winced occasionally, but Natasha's soothing words and careful ministrations alleviated the pain.
As Natasha worked, her thoughts wandered to the times when Y/N was just a skinny 13-year-old, brimming with determination but lacking experience. She remembered the day she found Y/N training tirelessly in the Avengers' compound, a self-imposed regimen to keep up with her brother, Peter. Natasha had watched silently, the seeds of a unique bond planted that day.
Natasha - Now, promise me you'll take it easy. No more pushing yourself like this. *raises eyebrow*
Y/N, who was now propped up on the couch, nodded, her eyes reflecting gratitude mixed with exhaustion. Natasha remained vigilant, keeping a watchful eye on Y/N's vital signs.
The evening light bathed the room in a warm glow as Natasha sat beside Y/N, a silent sentinel in the quiet apartment. The city's chaotic symphony had dimmed to a distant murmur, allowing a rare moment of stillness. Natasha's mind, usually a labyrinth of strategies and memories, now focused solely on the girl beside her.
Y/N shifted, discomfort etched on her face. Natasha immediately tensed, ready to intervene, but Y/N's groan turned into a chuckle.
Y/N - You know... You're way better at this mom thing than I expected.
A hint of a smile touched Natasha's lips.Â
Natasha - I've had some practice.Â
She admitted as her eyes softened.
As the night deepened, Natasha found herself in a role she never imagined: comforting, caring, and, above all, worrying. The Black Widow, a figure feared by enemies and respected by allies, was navigating unfamiliar territory.
Y/N's breaths evened out, signalling the arrival of sleep's healing embrace. Natasha watched her, a mix of emotions playing across her features as she draped a blanket over Y/N, a protective gesture that went beyond the physical. As the city outside hummed with life, Natasha settled into a vigil by Y/N's side, embracing the unfamiliar warmth that came with a realization. In that moment, the Black Widow wasn't a superhero, she was a mother, fiercely protective of her own daughter.
Natasha walked down the corridors of the Hydra base stealthily, checking each room and corner before moving to the next. It was a simple mission; infiltrate the base, recover Hydra files, then get out. Nothing was out of the ordinary at first, of course with the few Hydra agents now and then that she would come across, it's nothing she can't handle.Â
The Avengers were assigned to this mission to retrieve a weapon of some-sort from Hydra, Fury got word that Hydra got their hands on a space alien tech which landed on earth, and it was his job to recover and retrieve it. There was no time for failure, is what he said during the briefings.Â
Natasha was appalled at how big this Hydra base is, she never expected that she would be walking around the base for more than 30-minutes without any trouble coming along her way (of-course with the occasional guards wandering around, but it was never quiet at a Hydra base).Â
She was walking down a hallway when she spotted, what looks to be, various Hydra scientists. They were all huddled up in a circle, most probably discussing something. She went closer to investigate and hoped to hear what they were talking about, hiding behind a wall that was near them.Â
âWas machen wir jetzt damit?â(What do we do with it now?)
âIch sage, wir unterwerfen ihn der gleichen Behandlung wie den Wintersoldaten,â(I say we subject her to the same treatment as the Winter soldier)
âWir wissen nicht, wie seine Anatomie funktioniert, mehr oder weniger, wie sein Gehirn reagieren wĂźrde,â(We don't know how her anatomy works, more or less how her brain would respond)
âEs ist nur ein Baby, es wird leicht zu trainieren und nach unseren WĂźnschen zu formen sein,â(It is just a baby, it will be easy to train and mold it our liking)
The varying voices started to fade from earshot for Natasha, and just when the voices of the scientist finally disappeared, she popped her head from behind the wall to check if the scientist was still there. When she saw no one, she took it as her que to move forward and follow where the scientists were headed to find this child they were talking about.
A baby?! She couldn't believe it, Hydra was experimenting on a baby?! She knew Hydra was evil but didnât she didnât think they'd stoop this low and start doing things to babiesâ.
Just when Natasha thought she was getting lost, her comms went off, âDetka (baby), are you there?âÂ
Natasha smiles at the voice she hears, âYes, donât worry, Iâm still here, Wanda,â she hears Wanda sigh at the other side, âThatâs good, we thought we lost you, when you werenât answering us, are you ok?â Natasha seems baffled that she seemed so left to her thoughts that she didnât hear them calling to her, âDonât worry, it just seemed I was lost in thought,âÂ
She then hears Steve in her commsâ, âYou need to focus up, Nat. What have you found in the base?â
âSeems like Furyâs intel was right, they do have alien tech with them, but they were wrong when they thought it was just tech that was brought here. They have a baby-âÂ
âA BABY?! What do you mean they have A BABY?!!â Steveâs erratic voice came through. Â
âOld man shut upâ Itâs an alien baby, Iâm gonna try and find out where theyâre keeping them, and get out as quickly and quietly as possible,â Natasha then turns off her comms but without before hearing Wanda utter the words âI love youâ and âBe safeâ to her, she smiles unknowingly.Â
She quickly focuses on the mission again. Following the same path she last saw the scientist went. She walks along the path of the scientist until she reaches the end of the hall, she sees a hazard door that needs a key card access along with a password.Â
She didnât want to just break the lock pads since it would catch attention and would most probably alert the guards and everyone else in the building. So she hid behind a wall out of sight of everyone and waited patiently for the right time.
And as she patiently predicted all the scientists that she saw before came out of the hazard sign door, then as everyone piled out of the room, she took her chance in entering the room by slipping through the automatic sliding doors before it closed on her from the outside. And just when she entered she was met by the room being damaged, bite marks and claws marks were seen scattered around on the walls and equipment. She even saw burn marks, she thinks.
Thatâs when Natasha saw it, a small oval shaped pod of sorts, it was on top of a table with wires and tube of sorts holding it in place. She moved towards it to get a better look at it and test if there was anything she could salvage from it and saw a small tag on it. But then she heard something, something growled and thrashed, sounding like it wanted out from whatever it was keeping it. She turns and looks for the source of the sound, walking around the pod, she sees it.Â
It was small, maybe the size of a regular baby on earth, but there were keen features to what made them so different, and it was most definitely when the small baby had a tail, pointy ears, claws of sorts on their hands, and the fact the skin was blue should be the most distinct feature. Natasha was at awe when she saw them, they looked so adorable and so non-threatening at first glance, the blue baby looked at her and titled its head the same way she was tilting hers. But the blue baby abruptly lunged trying to get to her but was stopped by the glass wall in their way. Natasha was startled by the sudden action and tried to soothe the baby.
The pod ship forgotten, Natasha made it her new mission to get the baby out of Hydraâs hand. I hope I don't regret this, she thinks to herself, the baby alien resumed its attempts at trying to get out of the glass box that kept it trapped. She tried to speak to the baby, hoping by some miracle it would understand her.
âShh shh, itâs ok, Iâm not here to hurt you. Iâm gonna get out of there and out of Hydra, donât worry,â she smiles softly hoping it would ease the baby by the soft act. The babyâs attempts slowed, giving Natasha a signal of sorts that maybe the baby understood her.
She moved around the box inspecting it, trying to find anything that could help her open it or break it at least, after another minute she spotted a small blinking light at the bottom right edge of the box, there was a thin line of wire connecting something to it. She opted to follow the wire seeing where it's connected too. It was a control panel with a switch on it that said, off and on. Not very high-tech of Hydra, she switches the power of the box off, and when she looks back at the box, the glow around the glass dimmed, to show the box turned off, but when she walked back, she still couldnât open it and realized she needed something else to open it.
Natasha internally groaned at the situation. But the baby had other ideas, they looked at Natasha with an intense gaze and Natasha herself was getting a weird feeling, when all of a sudden the baby poofed just right above Natasha and she promptly catched them, âYou can teleport?âÂ
The baby croons in Natashaâs neck basking in the comfort of someone safe. Natasha felt a wave of protectiveness wash over, like a motherly instinct and hugged them tight, now with the baby safe, all Natasha has to think is getting out of Hydra, since she practically locked herself in here.Â
She remembers then that the baby can teleport and quickly converse with them, âOk, now were a bit in situation little one, you gotta teleport us out of here, just out of the building and we can meet up with some of my friends that will help us get out,â she faces the baby and coos at themâŚand they just stare at her confused.
âUghâ Fuck how are we getting out of here,â she groans and leans back at the nearest top side that she can lean on, but she didnât realize that she accidentally pressed on an alert button. Startling both her and the baby, she quickly acts by fixing her mistake and breaking the access codes and machines in getting into the room.
She can hear the guards and scientist running up to the room and she plops the baby behind her getting ready for a fight, if the baby decides to teleport without her, sheâs fucked. She turns back on her comms, âGuyâs Iâm in a bit of a situation here,â she quickly hears Steveâs voice responding back, âNat, whatâs wrong, are you ok? Do you need back up? We're sending in Wanda to help you now,â she retaliates to that idea, âDonât, I just need-â she couldnât even finish when she felt herself drop to the floor and heard screams from familiar voices.Â
She realizes that sheâs in the quinjet and with the baby wrapped around her right leg, smiling at her. She smiles back and quickly stands up, picking up the baby with her, she looks around and everyone is in a fighting position, âOh calm yourselves, theyâre fine, they won't hurt youâŚBut I will if you try to hurt them,â she gives each one them a glare, and they quickly relax (somewhat).Â
Thatâs when a girl with brunette hair rushed in for Natasha to hug, but is stopped when she hears a growl coming from the baby that Natasha is holding. âItâs ok malysh (baby), sheâs not gonna hurt you. I promise,â Natasha nods at Wanda indicating her to move closer. She does so and when she gets close enough Wanda gives Natasha the tightest of hugs while making sure she didnât agitate or hurt the baby Natasha was holding, she was worried that she was gonna lose Natasha when she heard that she was in a bad situation.
Both girls revel in the situation forgetting for a moment where they are, Natasha was the first one to loosen the hug they both were in, she turns to Steve and asks him to start the quinjet and get them out here and promises them that she will explain everything, Steve quickly gets to it. Leaving Natasha and Wanda alone along with the baby (Which Natasha was still holding).
âSo, are you going to explain the baby? Or do I have to wait as well?â Wanda asked her.Â
âI will, donât worry, letâs sit down first and get comfortable,â They both sit on one of the side benches in the quinjet and the baby Natasha is holding starts to squirm, that's when she sets them down and they start to lay down on Natashaâs lap and sleep. Both Wanda and Natasha awed at the sight.Â
And for the time being Natasha started to explain to Wanda and Steve (who came back after putting the quinjet on autopilot) what conspired in the Hydra base.Â
âDo they have a name?â Wanda was the first to ask.
Thinking back Natasha did think she saw a tag on the pod before she saw them. She smiles and looks back at Wanda, âItâs (Y/N),âÂ
âWell isnât that an adorable name for this adorable space baby,â Wanda comments, she looks at (Y/N) with adoration.Â
âHow are you sure they won't attack us?â Natasha glares at Steve for even insinuating that, âThey wonât as long as we make sure we donât hurt them,â Steve still seemed a bit skeptical but accepted the answer. âWell itâs not me you have to worry about Nat, itâs Fury that you might want to try and convince. As long (Y/N) wonât doesnât seem like a danger to anyone, Iâm okay with it,â Natasha agrees, âDonât worry, I already got a plan.â she assures him.Â
âSeems like theyâre already attached to you. Iâm pretty sure they see you as a mother already,âÂ
âYeahâŚa mother,â she smiles sadly and lets out a small laugh.Â
The air around them seemed to change and Steve quietly blamed himself for it, Wanda looked at Steve silently telling him to leave, and Steve obliged to the request.Â
âAre you ok, moya lyubov' (my love)?â Wanda places a hand on Natashaâs forearm and softly caresses it.Â
âYeah, I guess I just never thought that maybe, just maybe (Y/N) might see me as their mother. I donât even think Iâm a good enough mother,âÂ
Wanda lets out a gasp at that, âWhat do you mean, you're not a good mother? I think the small twin boys at home would think otherwise.âÂ
âYou think so?â Natasha looks at Wanda, the love of her life, the life that she was never willing to change ever, and the life she will fight tooth and nail to keep them forever with her.
âI know so, I love you Natty, and the boys does so too, so much so that, Iâm pretty sure you replaced me as the favorite mom, when you brought home Liho,â she teases and Natasha smiles at that, âIâm pretty sure the boys won't complain in having another sibling, they have been asking for a dog, and I think with (Y/N) they would be so much happier.âÂ
âI love you too, and I love the boys too, so much and I love this and every other life I'm in with you. Thank you malysh (baby). Iâm pretty sure the boys will love (Y/N) too, I know I do already.â Natasha leans on Wanda and holds both her and (Y/N) close.Â
They all stay silent, relishing in the warmth and love of each other. All of them have smiles on their faces as they wait to arrive at the compound. Steve smiles where he stands when he sees them, he hears everything and even lets out a small tear at every word they told each other, they both deserve what they have now, and heâs happy for them and so is every other Avenger is too. And if Fury tries anything, heâll have a one-on-one chat with him.
Also, I am in no ways an expert when it comes to asthma. I have had several experiences with childhood asthma with kids I have nanny'd or friends. I am working with that knowledge. If I have things wrong, please send me a message to educate me!!!
Natasha groans in agitation, awoken by the blaring of an alarm. She reaches behind her to hit snooze on the offending machine before rolling back into her previous position, wrapped around her wife.
Wanda sighs. She pulls Natashaâs arms around her tighter, but her wife has other ideas. Natasha trails kisses from her shoulder up her neck until she is nibbling on her ear. Her hands go on a journey of their own, returning to all of the places they had been merely hours ago.
âWhat do you think you are doing?â Wanda asks playfully. âIâm sorry was last night not enough for you?â
Natasha chuckles, but never sways her attention from the body against hers.
When a hand dips below her sleep shorts, Wanda rolls to face her wife. âWatch it, Romanoff,â she smirks against the red headâs lips.
Natasha grabs her lips with her own. Pulling away she returns her wifeâs smirk, âits Maximoff-Romanoff.â
âWell, Maximoff-Romanoff,â Wanda swats at Natashaâs hands that have found their way to her ass, âthereâs no way we have time for activities and for both of us to shower before we have to get the army moving.â
The redhead relents, pulling the brunette fully into her arms. Wanda nestles against Natasha and releases an exhausted sigh, despite having just woken up.
âYou ok?â
Wanda shrugs.
âThinking about the interviews?â
âYeah, they rescheduled three and tacked them onto the end of todayâs schedule. Who knows how long weâre gonna be there tonight,â Wanda releases a long sigh, sinking deeper into her wife.
Natasha runs her hands up and down Wandaâs back gently, âI can help you relax. Let me take care of you.â
âAs much as I would love that, we donât have time,â the brunette parrots her earlier statement.
âCome on,â Natasha gets out of bed, grabbing the other womanâs hand to coax her to follow, âtake a shower with me. You know how good I am at multitasking.â She raises a suggestive eyebrow.
Wanda can only giggle while she allows herself to be led into the adjoining bathroom.
After a very satisfying shower, getting dressed and a speedy light makeup application, Wanda exits the bedroom to begin the day, starting with waking the little humans.
Walking through the living room, Wanda stops to knock on the door to the basement. She opens it to call down the stairs, âY/n, time to get moving. Breakfast in an hour.â She continues on her mission, traveling upstairs next.
âGood morning, everyone,â the mother knocks on each door calling for those inside. âBoys, time to wake up. Lena, you too.â
She makes her way into the last room, lightly tapping on the door. âGood morning, princess,â she makes her way over to the toddlerâs bed and sits on the edge. âAnastasia,â she sings lightly, gently rubbing the girlâs tiny back to rouse her, âtime to wake up, my love.â
The three year old rolls over and sleepily peers up at her, âmommy?â
Wanda smiles and places a kiss to the girlâs forehead, âgood morning, my sweet girl. Come on, lets get you ready for daycare.â She pulls away the covers and lifts the child out of bed. The mother changes her into the outfit she laid out last night. After some quick pigtails, Wanda settles the girl on her hip for the trip downstairs.
When she steps outside the toddlerâs bedroom, Wanda is confronted by one of her younger twins.
âHow come you bang on our door to wake us up, but she gets whispers and hugs,â Tommy asks, tooth brush in hand, but still in his pajamas.
The mother canât help but chuckle, âwell when you were 3, I woke you up with whispers too, but then you outgrew that and slept through the whispering.â She ruffles his hair then pulls him into a side hug, âyou can still get hugs though.â
The boy manages to squirm out of the hug and turn back to the bathroom. âNooo mom! You messed up my hair,â the 7 year old grumbles.
âSorry,â Wanda chuckles bouncing the girl on her hip. âEverybody get moving. Breakfast in 45 minutes ok?â She waits for the array of âokâ, âyes mamâ, âalready on itâ. After she is confident everyone is in fact working on it, she treks back downstairs to start breakfast.
She sits the still sleepy toddler on the couch with a sippy cup of milk to watch some cartoons while she makes breakfast. As she scrambles some eggs and gets some biscuits in the oven, the entire house comes to life around her.
This is one part of her life that Wanda wouldnât change for the world. With her family moving around her, interacting and joking with each other, even when she has to break up some bickering, she loves her children with everything she has and canât really figure out what she did to deserve them.
âBoys,â she calls in a warning tone, âBilly, you better not be finishing your brotherâs homework.â The 2 boys look up from the table guiltily. âPack up your backpacks. If it didnât get done last night, then itâs not getting done.â
A look of fear covers Tommyâs features, âbut Iâll get in trouble!â
Wanda turns to face her son, âIâm sorry, but you should have thought about that last night. There are consequences to your actions buddy. Next time, youâll do all of your homework the night before and before you pick up a video game.â
The boy hangs his head in defeat, sulking while he gathers his books into his bag.
âThen, go pack your bag for track practice, too.â
Lena walks into the kitchen carrying a very worn pair of pointe shoes and her dance bag, âmom I need new pointe shoes. These are almost worse than my back up pair.â
The mother turns to look at her oldest daughter and the pair of shoes she presents to her. She nods, âwe can go Saturday after the swim meet. Do you think they can last the rest of the week?â
The teen nods, tucking the shoes away in her bag.
âGood. Now, are you ready for school?â the mother asks.
âYes mam,â Lena sets her bag to the side and looks back to her mother.
Wanda smiles, âperfect, could you help me cut up some fruit for breakfast?â The teen happily nods, pulling out the cutting board and whichever fruit her mother instructs her to grab.
Natasha and Alex walk into the kitchen one after the other. Theyâre laughing about something, most likely something that Alex said.
âAlright jokester, grab some plates and set the table for everybody please,â the redhead pats him on the back. She kisses her wifeâs cheek on the way to pour herself a cup of much needed coffee.
While the liquid slips from the coffee pot to the mug, Wandaâs eyes rake up and down her body. Sheâs seen Natasha in her uniform practically everyday for the past 20 years, but the sight still does something to make her knees weak. Even despite this morningâs activities.
The brunette pulls the other woman close to her, âgood morning officer.â
âGood morning to you,â Natasha smirks and leans in for a kiss. A kiss that is cut short-
âGross, can you guys not please?â PJ groans as he enters the kitchen.
The two mothers break the kiss and laugh together. âGo help your brother set the table,â Wanda points her head in the direction of the table.
The chef turns to plate the food, while the officer calls for their youngest.
âAnastasia, guess what time it is,â Natasha prepares a small glass of water while she waits, although she doesnât have to wait long.
âPuff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff,â the toddler repeats with each quick little step she takes.
The officer picks her up and sits her on the counter, âthatâs right. Itâs puff puff time.â Natasha slides the basket containing all of the materials closer. Â She picks up the preventative puffer and removes the cap, âstep one: shake, shake, shake, shake.â She shakes the puffer while the toddler giggles and shakes her shoulders.
Of course, the mothers would much rather their daughter did not have asthma. However, they are prepared, willing and dedicated to do everything possible to help her control the condition and live as a typical 3-year-old. That includes breathing treatments that are not typically labeled as fun, but they do whatever they can to make it as enjoyable for Anastasia as possible.
âAlright, last shakes,â the redhead lets the girl shake a few more times while she attaches the puffer to the spacer, ânext-â
âMask!â Anastasia says happily.
Natasha holds the mask flush to the girlâs face, âand nowâŚâ
ââŚpuff,â they say at the same time.
Natasha squeezes the canister releasing the medicine into the spacer, which bleeds into the mask. âDeep breaths,â she says as she exaggerates her breathing as an example for her daughter, âone deep breath, two deep breaths, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Good girl one more time, are you ready?â
Anastasia nods, and Natasha squeezes the canister again. The mother counts as her daughter takes deep breaths as instructed.
â⌠eight, nine, ten. Very good girl,â Natasha removes the mask from her face and sets it to the side. She grabs the glass of water set off to the side, âhere, water.â The girl takes a swig into her mouth, and her mother instructs, âswish, swish, swish, swish, swish, spit!â
Anastasia leans over the cup to spit it in without spilling. Natasha sets the cup in the sink and lifts the girl off the counter, âall done!â She sets the toddler back on her feet.
The officer spots her oldest daughter walk out of the kitchen to place a plate of cut fruit on the table. Leaning down to Anastasiaâs level, she whispers, âI bet if you ask nicely, Lena will help you get into your booster seat.â
The young girl happily skips out of the kitchen after her older sister.
Natasha smiles at her little crew all moving around the kitchen/dining area. She notices a couple are missing and turns to go searching.
First, she checks the back porch and finds one of the two in question. She steps out onto the porch to join him, âgood morning, Max.â
The twelve-year-old turns with a grin, âmorning Mama!â
âAll done watering, buddy?â
âYes mam⌠Hey, come check this out!â he excitedly waves her over to the garden him and Wanda have been working on for the past few months. âI got a bud!â he points.
Natasha walks closer to take a look, âthatâs awesome, buddy!â She wraps an arm around her sonâs shoulder. âReady to come in? I think breakfast is almost done. Plus you should go tell Mom about the bud!â
âOk,â he smiles, setting the squirt bottle back in its place and running inside. His mother follows, but instead of heading to the kitchen, she turns the opposite direction in search of one more straggler.
Wanda turns with a large plate of eggs in one hand and a plate of biscuits in the other. âBreakfast is ready!â she calls through the house. Setting the plates on the table, she has to swat the hands of her oldest boys away from the plate of biscuits, âonly one each, until everyone gets one.â
As she is making Anastasiaâs plate, she looks around the table for a headcount. Including the toddler, she counts four already sitting around the table. She looks up as the little twins are making their way to their seats.
 âOne, two, three, four, five, sixâŚâ Wanda counts in her head, âsix?â
Max comes bounding into the room, âMom, I found a bud on the tomato plant!â
âSeven.â
âThatâs great, Max!â she loves that she has a buddy in her gardening endeavor, and for her, his pure excitement is better than any fruit they would yield. He takes his seat, and Wanda takes a look around the room to find who is missing.
The last empty chair, beside Natashaâs, tells her exactly who she is missing.
âIâll be right back. Yâall start eating,â Wanda makes her way out of the room, looking over her shoulder to add, âLenaâs in charge.â
The mother makes her way through the house to the living room. She tilts her head when she finds her wife standing at the basement door with her ear pressed into the narrow gap between the door and the frame.
âWhat are you doing?â she asks amused.
Natasha pulls a finger up to her lips, âshhhh.â She motions for Wanda to come closer. âSheâs practicing,â she whispers and pulls her wife to listen for herself.
The brunette leans her ear towards the cracked door as well and canât help but smile. The most beautiful music floats up the steps. Her daughterâs skill and talent still amaze her.
They both listen to Y/n play for another minute, before they know they have to interrupt if they want everyone to be on time today. They both quietly make their way down the stairs as the music continues.
Y/n is so focused on playing the piece, perfecting it, that she doesnât even notice her mothers have entered the room until one of them clears their throat.
The music ends abruptly as the teen looks up guiltily, âsorry.â She cracks the small smile that she knows will have them break, âgood morning?â
Natasha and Wanda laugh. âGood morning,â they say in unison.
The officer checks the outfit Y/n has on and is satisfied that she is at least dressed for the day. âAre you ready for school?â
Her daughter nods, âmy homework is all done, my backpack is packed. I just have to pack this up too.â She holds up the violin in her hand.
âThank you for being ready,â Wanda nods, âbut now you need to eat breakfast.â
âI already ate,â the teen counters.
Wanda raises an eyebrow, âIâve been in the kitchen all morning, and Iâm pretty sure I never saw youâŚâ
Y/n blushes and smiles guiltily again, âI woke up earlier than you this morning. I was in the kitchen while you were upstairs.â
Wanda squints her eyes trying to detect if the girl is lying, but she can tell she is not.
Natasha chuckles and shakes her head. Making eye contact with her wife, she shrugs, âSecret Agent.â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wanda stops, leaning on the counter to take a deep breath. She tries to just breathe until the nausea passes. Sheâs barely 8 weeks along in her pregnancy, and the morning sickness is so much worse than it was with the twins.
âCome on kiddo, work with me,â she whispers placing a hand over her stomach.
The twins are finally down for a nap, and Wanda needs to use every available moment to tidy around the house. Natasha should be back from her doctorâs appointment soon, and she wants to have at least the kitchen finished by then.
Her wife actually should have been home a while ago. Every minute that ticks by gathers more worry in her stomach, so she cleans to keep her hands busy and her mind distracted.
With another deep breath, she continues wiping down the counters. While she does so, all kinds of scenarios run through Wandaâs head of what the doctor could have or could be telling to her wife.
The officer was forced more or less to go to the doctor by the chief. Sheâs repeatedly called in sick over the past couple months, and before she can go back to full active duty, she has to be cleared by a doctor.
Wanda moves on to washing bottles, checking the baby monitor every now and again.
The bottles are clean and drying on the rack when the door to the garage opens and closes. Wanda turns to greet her wife who stands stiffly just inside the kitchen entrance.
âHi love,â the brunette smiles, drying her hands. âDid they clear you for active duty?â
The red head shakes her head no. She keeps her eyes low, unable to look at her wife.
Wandaâs shoulders drop. She knows that her wife was very much hoping to be cleared. âWell, what did they say?â
Natasha doesnât answer, looking at the ground intently. Her hands fiddle nervously with a small piece of paper she carried in.
âBaby, what did they say?â
Silence stretches between them, and its eating Wanda alive.
The younger woman crosses the room taking her wifeâs face into her hands, lifting it so they are looking in each otherâs eyes. The glossy redness of the red headâs eyes ignites a further panic in her.
âNatasha, youâre scaring me. What is it?â
She doesnât speak. She only looks down to the paper in her hands and raises it to display to her wife.
Wanda follows Natashaâs gaze down to her hands. She gasps and swears her heart stopped beating. Her mind is running away without her as she tries to comprehend what she is looking at.
Itâs an ultrasound image of an unborn baby. A baby who looks pretty far along.
Wanda can clearly find the head, a torso of sorts, what looks to be the start of some arms and legs. Thereâs still a lot of development to happen, but this baby is much farther along than the one Wanda has inside of her. This baby is about the size Natashaâs would have been.
Wanda looks up; her eyes wide and dazed in shock, âthis is from today?â
Natasha nods.
ââŚof you?â
She nods again.
The brunette stares back down to the image, ââŚbut all of the testsâŚâ
âFalse negatives,â the redhead speaks for the first time since she walked in the door.
â⌠and your period?â the younger woman takes the sonogram from her to examine closer.
âSpotting that is apparently very common.â
Wanda canât take her eyes off the image, âhow far along?â
â15 weeks,â Natasha holds her breath waiting for a response, but she gets none. The quiet is too much in her anxious state.
They had been trying for their third child for months, and this time Natasha wanted to carry the child.
The first attempt ended in tears when the red head got her period and the tests came back negative. It was hard for them both, but it was almost nothing compared to the second try a month later. Â
After the implantation, her period was late. She even got a positive test. They were so happy, ecstatic even, until it was all ripped away a week later.
Natasha began bleeding and every test after that was negative. They were both devastated beyond belief, Natasha most of all.
It was decided Wanda would try next, and she became pregnant after the first try.
They had believed both of Natashaâs attempts had failed. However, if Natasha is already 15 weeks along, the first attempt had to of been successful.
Now here they are both pregnant. That wasnât the plan, and it had Natasha wallowing in worry of what her wife would think of the news.
âPlease say something,â she begs.
Wanda doesnât answer her directly, instead she drops to one knee and smiles happily, eye level with her wifeâs stomach.
âYou sneaky little thing,â she giddily addresses the very tiny human tucked away inside Natasha. âYouâre gonna keep us on our toes, arenât you?â
She presses a kiss to her wifeâs stomach before standing to cup her cheeks and bring her in for a joyful kiss. She pulls away with a grin, âwhat else did they say?â
Natasha answers shakily, âthat sheâs due in y/b/m.â
Wanda melts instantly, âshe? Itâs a girl?â She couldnât wipe the smile off of her face if she wanted to. That is until she sees that Natasha doesnât seem to share in her joy, âwhatâs wrong? Sheâs healthy right?â She searches her wifeâs eyes for an answer, âIs she ok? Are you ok?â
âWeâre fine, weâre ok,â the redhead cuts off her wifeâs worry spiral, ââŚits just⌠youâre ok⌠with this?â
âOk?â Wanda asks incredulously, âwhat do you mean? Natasha, we mourned this baby. We grieved for her twice, and she came back to us. I am so much more than ok.â She strokes Natashaâs cheek and still finds hesitation, âwhat is it, love?â
The red head opens her mouth but struggles to find words, ââŚyouâre pregnant, and Iâm pregnant. Weâre gonna have two babies.â
Wanda chuckles, âwe have two babies. Weâre about to have four. Theyâre gonna be only a couple months apart. They might as well be twins, and I think we handled that pretty well the last time, if I do say so myself.â
âYeah, we did,â Natasha smiles. Her worry is beginning to morph into relief and joy. â⌠but we canât both be on maternity leave. What are we gonna do?â
The brunette shushes her softly, âhey, itâll be ok. You can work desk duty for as long as you can. If we need to pull from savings, we will. Plus, we still have the restaurant, and its doing well. Weâll make it work like we always do.â She pulls her wife into her arms.
Natasha returns the hug, holding Wanda as close as possible. She wonders how long they will be able to do this before baby bumps make it impossible. Bumps⌠plural. It sounds surreal.
Wanda pulls back to kiss her soundly. âNow, can we put aside the worry, and just celebrate this precious girl?â
Her wife grins and nods.
âThank you,â she presses her forehead to Natashaâs, âand thank you for this gift.â She kneels again and slides a hand across her wifeâs stomach, âeven if you did hide her in there for almost 4 months.â
The red head laughs, âI hid nothing! All of the hiding was done by her, like sheâs training to be a little secret agent.â
The pair share a content smile, then Wanda looks back to Natashaâs stomach.
âOur secret agent.â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amused, Wanda rolls her eyes, âwell little miss Secret Agent, you still have to sit at the table while we discuss the game plan for the day.â
After Y/n packs her violin back in its case, the brunette throws an arm around her daughterâs shoulder and walks her upstairs with Natasha following close behind.
When the three of them enter the dining room, the majority of the food is already claimed or eaten.
âI made them save some for you, Y/n,â Max says happily.
The mothers sit in the chairs in faux offense. â⌠and what about us?â Natasha asks playfully.
He blushes and looks at them sheepishly, âyou too, moms.â They both send him a playful wink.
Y/n takes her spot between PJ and Anastasia. âThanks bud, but I ate breakfast early today,â she smiles to her little brother.
âSo, time for the game plan,â Wanda announces from her seat on the other side of Anastasia. âIâm working a bit later tonight than normal, so that will mix things up a little bit. Lena, Aunt Pepper is going to pick you up from school and take you to ballet with Morgan and drop you off at home after.â
The teen nods in between bites of her breakfast.
Natasha looks across the table, âP, no soccer today, right?â
âNope, coach is on vacation, so we have the rest of the week off.â
âOk, we need you to pick up Max from the middle school, then drop him and Alex off at swim practice. Those are your first marching orders,â she chuckles when he gives her a little salute. âSecond, you need to go to the grade school to pick up the little twins.â
She then turns to the twin boys, âBilly, after chess club, wait for Tommy to finish track practice. He shouldnât finish much after you. PJ should be there by the time you finish.â Â
Wanda eats the last few bites off her plate, then continues the plan for the afternoon. âMama will get Anastasia from daycare, then pick up Alex and Max. Y/n, think you can walk to your lesson after school?â
Y/n looks up with a furrowed brow.
It isnât a bad walk. Her coach lives in the neighborhood right next to the high school. It takes 15, max 20 minutes to walk there. The weather is supposed to be great all day long.
So why is she looking at her mothers like theyâve forgotten something?
The girl releases a breath and nods, deciding not to say anything.
âAlright, then we just need someone to pick her up after,â Wanda looks between the big twins, âyou should both be home by then. I donât care who, you can decide amongst yourselves.â
âIâll do it,â Lena volunteers. She knows the second her brother gets home, 9 times out of 10, he starts some video game and doesnât stop until moms make him.
âThank you Lena,â Natasha smiles proudly.
Wanda looks around the table, âquestions?â
Alex raises his hand slowly, âwhere do babies come from?â
PJ nearly spits out his water from laughing. The older children are either trying to hold in their laughter or staring at him in shock. The three youngest turn to their mothers with expressions of genuine curiosity.
Wanda squints her eyes in her sonâs direction, âany real questions?â
âMommy, where do babies come from?â the question is repeated in the innocent voice of her three year old.
Natasha steps in, picking up the toddler from her booster seat, âwe will talk about that when you are bigger.â She sets the girl on her hip wiping her face with a napkin. She turns back to the table and addresses the rest of her family, âalright team, lets go. Everyone put their dishes in the dishwasher and help clean up the rest. Grab your backpacks and bags, and get to the door. I want everyone in a car in 15 minutes. Ok?â
A chorus of âokâ and âyes mamâ bounces off the walls, and they all get moving to do as they were told.
She sets the toddler down to run and grab her daycare bag. She gathers Anastasiaâs and her own dishes to take care of.
Wanda checks Anaâs daycare bag one last time, before sending the girl out to her car with Max. âYou two wait for me by the car. Iâll be right there.â
The morning carpool arrangement is a delicate balance. Wanda takes Anastasia to daycare and Max to the middle school because they are both closer to her campus. Natasha can easily drop off the little twins at the grade school on her way to the station. While the four big kids pile into a car and drive themselves to the high school.
âItâs my turn.â
Wanda can hear footsteps along with the bickering of her oldest children approaching from behind.
âNo, its not,â PJ counters, âI have the keys, so Iâm driving.â
Their mother turns to face them, quickly plucking the car keys from her sonâs hand. She holds them up for them both to see.
She looks to PJ, âdid you finish all of your homework?â
âOf course.â
Wanda turns to Lena, âballet bag?â The girl holds up the bag as a confirmation. âGood,â her mother nods and then looks between the two of them. âNow, who drove yesterday?â
Their reactions are simultaneous, almost like they are twins or something. Lena points to her brother while he shakes his head and tries to playfully smile his way out of this one.
âWell then,â Wanda hands the keys to her daughter, âbe safe, no texting while youâre driving. Do you hear me?â
Lena smirks victoriously in her brotherâs direction. âYes mam,â she takes the keys and starts walking out of the house.
âSorry bud,â Wanda pats PJ on the cheek before nudging him towards the door. âHave a good day, I love you,â she calls to them both, and they repeat it back to her, âlove you too, 25/8.â
Natasha then approaches the door with the little twins hot on her trail.
âCan we ride with the blue lights?â Billy asks excitedly.
She stops in front of her wife, but continues to look to the boys, âyou two ask me every morning, and what is the answer every morning?â
They both fold their hands together and put on their best pout faces. âPleeeaaassse,â they beg in unison.
The officer tries to stand her ground, but their cuteness cracks her resolve. She smiles, âfine, but you get 20 seconds in the driveway before we leave.â
The boys jump in victory, bounding out the front door without another look back.
âI love you too,â Wanda playfully calls after them.
âWell, I love you,â Natasha pulls her wife close and leans in to press their lips together.
âGross,â a voice sounds from behind them.
They chuckle at their second interrupted kiss for the morning. In the direction of the voice, they see Alex at the bottom of the stairs carrying his backpack and swim bag. Y/n comes in from the living room, and they both make their way to the door.
âEverything in your swim bag?â Natasha asks Alex as he passes.
âEverything,â he taps the duffel hanging from his shoulder. Y/n is right behind him.
Wanda asks, âY/n baby, you have your violin?â
The girl holds up the case, but before she can say anything, her brother is chiming in.
âOf course, she has the violin,â he smirks in the doorway, âits surgically attached to her arm.â
Y/n rolls her eyes and pushes him through the doorframe, âha, ha, ha, everybodyâs got jokes.â She throws a âbye momsâ over her shoulder.
âWe love you,â Natasha and Wanda both say at the same time.
Both teens stop and turn in unison, â25/8.â
The mothers smile and nod, â25/8.â
âNow where were we?â the officer turns back to her wife.
Wanda leans in, âI think it was a little like this.â Their lips meet in the middle, and they savor the short moment as long as they can. Â When they break the kiss, they rest their foreheads together. âPlease be safe,â the brunette asks quietly.
Itâs a dangerous job. One that keeps Wanda constantly dreading that call.
âI will,â Natasha reassures her with a stroke of her cheek, âI love you.â
âI love you too.â
They share one more, quick kiss, before they depart, going separate ways to officially begin the day.
