Raising her lantern into the sky, she finally let it go among the other and smiled softly. "For the city of starlight..." she whispered to herself, hoping that maybe it would go all the way there. Watching the lanterns reminded her of another night, back home. Starfall. Would she end up missing it this year? As she watched the lanterns for a bit longer, she knew the night would be drawing to a close and she'd be making one hell of a decision. Tamlin had already promised to come with her blindly somewhere; her mother’s grave, back home in The Night Court.

So all of these different names for satan figures are getting a little silly now.  So I am mixing up. 

The First ruler of Perdition is no longer Satanael, which is needlessly complicated.

The Lawful Evil domains is tied forever to the concept of the Overlord, though few new it.  This cosmic force of Pure Law and Evil is the heart of the entire realm, and is an absolute power matched only by Lucifier in strength (though not as strong as the 5 Cosmic beings).  The Overlord was one of the three great beings, including the Supreme Virtue and the Progenitor, who were once known as the Circle of Law, but splintered and broke apart into three. Ever since then, the Overlord has sought to take over the world, uniting it under its view of Law and Evil.   It was doing very well until the Fall of Lucifer, who faced the Overlord in spiritual combat, and almost destroyed it, and the Overlord had to go into hiding.  Ever since, while extremely powerful, the Overlord has been weakened by its wounds, and thus while it can dish out damage, it certainly can't take it.  Thus to prevent its total destruction, it has routinely created Avatars to do its bidding, and create the appearance of them being the true Lord of Absolute evil.  Malkira was one such Avatar, and for a very long time, it was the supreme lord of Hell and Perdition (which were at that time the same realm).  Malkira was a servant for the first Avatar, the legendary Shaytan, however in the Great Usurpation, Malkira was able to overthrown and destroy Shaytan, establishing himself as the absolute ruler of Hell.  The reason for this was that the Overlord wanted to hide its existence and prevent any creature from remembering its existence.  The Overlord was deathly afraid that some great being would come out and connect the Shaytan to the Overlord, and so the Usurpation was seen as necessary.  For untold tens of thousand of centuries, Malkira ruled as the new Avatar as the Overlord, with his victory over the Shaytan being seen as confirmation of his power.  However, Sataniel, the second in command to Lucifier, eventually came with a great force to Hell and was able, with a great deal of difficulty, to take power form Malkira in the War of Light and Greed.  Unbeknownst to Malkira, during the war Sataniel himself made a deal with Overlord effectively becoming its Avatar himself, in which case Malkira was seen as disposable, and he was replaced.  However unlike the Shaytan, who was utterly consumed, Malkira was allowed to escape alive, though weakened, and has continued to exist in hiding ever since.  Malkira has watched the splitting of Perdition from Baator, and the subsequent overthrow of Satariel by Asmodeus, and Malkira has been plotting to both reclaim perdition, and unite the realms of Hell and Perdition.  Malkira doesn't know that the Overlord abandoned it because he was too aggressive in his war against heaven and was gaining the attention of the Upper Planes, but with the Rise of Asmodeus, the Overlord no longer sees Sataniel as the greatest choice, and Malkira has gained more and more power.  Malkira dwells in the center of the Barrens of Doom and Despair, where he hopes to remake himself into a form that even Sataniel cannot contend with, and currently he is stronger than both Sataniel, Satariel and Asmodeus, but lacks the forces to launch an attack.  However he plans to eventually return and retake his rightful thrown.  He appears as a 9 foot tall unbelievably beautiful man, though his wings are jet black to reflect his soul, covered with magical runes.  He always carries Dawncatcher, the magical longspear that he has wielded since he first manifested.
