Messed up in my last post; if you leave her to run through that first animation a couple of times, this happens.
Malicious Fallen - Launch Trailer (PS4)
I want you all to play MALICIOUS Fallen
Here's how the game works: you're in a void and there are five levels for you to go into. Each level consists of a massive boss, a massive arena, and a massive horde of enemies. You have half an hour to kill the boss (very few bosses actually can last this long if you're not trying to fail). Once you beat the boss, you gain their powers. Each power can be accessed directly from the buttons on your controller without inventories and you get so many as the game goes on.
There is a story but it's got its own dedicated menu and it's told entirely in prose like you're reading an instruction manual, so this isn't going to be for you if you like a well-woven narrative. If you're looking for complex, high-speed, large-scale action with a diverse array of cool abilities, then I cannot recommend this enough. Just know that I emphasise that your abilities are really diverse; give the tutorial your attention because you're going to want to know a lot of the things you can do here that you don't in other games.
There are games like Ys, Devil May Cry, Asura's Wrath, and so on but none of them have this sheer scale that I am deeply nostalgic for; none of them let me fly through the air between the parts of an airship as I escape a flying knight's gatling lance, or traverse up and down a tall library to avoid a charging giga-wolf. There are a lot of awesome bosses in this game (except the Undead King, who can get stuffed) and you're not going to find another game with boss fights like this.

I started a game called Malicious Fallen tonight, and I don't think I'm going to continue it. It's not really my kind of game, and based on the main menu I think it might've been intended for arcades. Barely any of the story is given to you during the actual game, it's either a bunch of old men standing in a circle around you telling you why you're doing the thing you're about to do or a book you have to choose to open from the main menu. There are apparently 3 or 4 story campaigns that you unlock one after the other upon completion, and we played through the entire first one tonight. It just... wasn't that fun. I got the hang of it after a bit, but I have no need to go back. So, new game tomorrow! I think I'll try out Knack!
Stream time! I was searching for something new on PS+ and eventually settled on a game called Malicious Fallen, which looks to be an anime rpg from the PS3 era remade for the PS4. Let's try it out!
Idle animation from Malicious Fallen.
