Of course, when I found out that a prequel to His Dark Materials trilogy was coming out, I was hooked. His Dark Materials were definetely some of the most significant books on my teenage-hood (youth? I'm not that old!), athough during a recent re-read, I realized I had wiped out whole parts of The Amber Spy-glass.  The book belongs in the same universe, and have common characters (Lyra, as a baby, Lord Asriel who is very much more likeable here, Hannah Relf). I believe La Belle Sauvage is a good young adult book, exploration and adventures (flight in a flood). I truly enjoyed some of the new and not so new characters. Hannah Relf as a kind tutor letting a clever boy read her library... well that resonates! I loved the exploration of people and their daemon, how they're one and the same. Still, I think it doesn't hold the comparison with His Dark Materials.
