Tim Gane, master of the 12 string guitar
And speaking of Tim Gane and Laetitia Sadier, here's a song from the band they were in before splitting off to do Stereolab, McCarthy "Get a Knife Between Your Teeth". I don't know how this song doesn't annoy me, because it has all the elements of a song that would but it doesn't: wah effects on a repeating guitar line, cheesy drums. I used to listen to this at 9 in the morning with rain pouring down waiting at Hastings and Commercial for a trolley bus to the studio, and then again walking through the downtown eastside.
