I spy with my little eye...

I didn't have a Dot to Dot ticket but thought I'd dip in and out of the freebies at The Lanes & The Louisiana. We'll I only ended up seeing Nobody's Dad as no one else was doing it for me & I couldn't be bothered to hang around for The Cindys later on that evening. I'll be seeing them next month.

Anyway after giving the day festivals a miss the last few years, I got a ticket for next year's Dot to Dot as @leslieknott says, it's the cheapest music festival around at £25 for an early bird.

To be honest, I think I would have got frustrated this year being inside sweaty venues whilst the sun shone outside.

Was happy enough with my 1 band of the festival.

Yoo Doo Right are a band you need to see live. They're loud, these vids don't quite capture the sound level, you need to be there!

Last time Lorelle Meets the Obsolete were here they played Rough Trade and it was pretty packed. This time not so which was a shame as they deserved a bigger crowd.

Anyway, was pleased they were playing the basement at the Exchange, only my 2nd gig there since it's been refurbished but loving the space and the sound down there is great.

I think Treeboy & Arc were one of the 1st bands I saw after lockdown back in 2021. They tour sporadically & I  always wondered if they were still together. Well this was their last album &  tour which is a shame cos they're pretty live.

Chapterhouse part 1

The day had finally come, I got to see Chapterhouse again...

37 years since my 1st Chapterhouse gig (supporting Spaceman 3) - 14th June 1989 at The Bierkeller in Bristol

33 years since my last Chapterhouse gig supporting the Cranes at The Garage in London 4th Sept 1993 and the rest filled with doing their 1991 tours. @chapterhouse.official

This was my 38th Chapterhouse gig! So you could say that I've seen them quite a few times and this was the best that I've ever seen them play. An hour and half long set with obviously songs from Whirlpool but also some old faves where the guitars & drums come crashing in and they did with such intensity. God I loved it, what a comeback, they are back. If you didn't see them on this tour you missed out so let's hope they stick around.

Going back to my teenage goth days with Mercy Girl.

Not had many gigs this year so was looking forward to seeing Highschool again.  Last time they played it was just the 2 of them and a drum machine.  This time a full band and they were excellent, full of energy.  Defo recommend listening to the last couple of albums if you haven't already.

Hamburger- another cute indiepop band from Bristol playing for my friend's 50th birthday.

The School- indie pop from Wales

Milky Wimpshake were always on my list of bands to see years ago but I never got round to it until now!

This is pretty late for being my 1st gig of the year but nothing has tempted me out so far until this one.  Valentine's day as well, so what else do you do when you're single?  I thought the guy in @paintedvein_ was familiar and I knew that he'd collaborated with @moaamusic on one of his songs, but didn't realise until I spoke to him that he was the other part of MØAA.  With Jancy from MØAA also part of his band, I kinda got a double gig, very happy.  Painted Vein was excellent, dark noise gaze vibe, exactly my thing.

Continuing with Shoegaze December and my last gig of the year. Funnily enough Miki was my 2nd gig of 2025 & ended up being my last of 2025! Looking very festive in her red velvet shirt, sequin shorts and boots. Always enjoy her gigs with old and new songs and down to earth relatable chat. Plus she's only too happy to slip in a few Lush tunes into the set because let's face it, if you were there at the time, (we're all getting older), hearing those tunes and reminiscing about our youth is bliss.

Local band Year of the Rabbit (now called Rabbit Vision) supported Lemondaze. They were pretty good and I'd check them out again.(Pics and vid)

Shoegaze December continues with Lemondaze who are on a really short tour this week in fact so short they had to cancel the 1st two dates due to flu. So Bristol started the tour and tomorrow ends the tour in London.

Really enjoyed them and looking forward to seeing them again and hopefully they'll have less sound issues.  The lighting was really good though so I came away with more usable pics than normal. Here's half of them with a vid.

Track - Art Form

This month I will mostly be going to shoegaze gigs! First up Mo Dotti, who I've wanted to see for a couple of years.They finally made it over to the UK/Europe, so I'm a very happy girl.  Their album is wonderful and there is not one iffy song on there, 'Proper Shoegaze'.  At times you feel you are listening to Lush with dreamy, sweet and ethereal vocals and then you get the heavier MBV/RIDE/Boo Radleys guitars crashing in. Definitely recommend a listen and if you can, catch them on this short tour over here.
