22-year-old Stevie Wonder’s 14th studio album was released on 3 March 1972.
Music of My Mind was the first release under his new contract at Motown (and his first contract signed as a legal adult), which gave him complete control. Wonder was eager to show his musical interests and inventiveness and hired electronic music pioneers Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff (both members of the influential Tonto's Expanding Head Band) as associate producers, engineers and programmers. They would work together on 3 more albums.
Wonder played all the instruments on the album except guitar (Buzz Feiten) and trombone (Art Baron).
Music of My Mind was a commercial hit (peaking at #21 in the US), but was soon overshadowed by Talking Book, released in October 1972.

04.30.17 RedBull Music Academy hosted Beyond The Clouds : Ambient Excursions, a ten hour concert. Malcolm Cecil of Tonto’s Exploding Head Band killed it, performing songs from the seminal 1971 Zero Time album. For the last piece he was joined by thereminist Dorit Chrysler. Earlier in the day Dorit delighted with drone pieces and three interpretations of Satie as well as some of her signature originals. The performance room was decked out with a huge cloud-like structure made of foam stretched with white rubber for the attendees to bliss out on. The day also featured performances from Laraaji, Julianna Barwick, Chino Amobi & Johnny Utterback, Mary Lattimore, Huerco S. and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith with Visible Cloaks DJ-ing.

Imagine he’s an abandoned creation. Marius, as with all my AUs, can be dead or mysteriously disappeared, and he’s left behind this sentient automaton whose only voice is synthesized sound. Maybe the toy factory he ran like a madcap Wonka figure has been turned into a museum and Daniel’s hired as a custodian or night watchman. He stumbles on a secret room and Armand is still there, gathering dust. A pet project prototype whose purpose died with his creator.
And, of course, you must imagine that this au is directed jointly by Brian De Palma and Alex Garland 😮💨🤌
