“At Sa'a in Mala[ita], one of the Solomon Islands, when a child is sick its strayed soul is sought for by a priest who holds a sprig of dracaena in his hand. The wandering soul then lights on the dracaena, from which it is transferred to a pandanus umbrella, where it is heard scratching. The umbrella is then held over the child, and the soul returns to the child, who gives a convulsive shudder and recovers.” [1]
