2 - top 5 books of all time: thats a lot of pressure ummm... i'll try to limit it to actual books rather than plays and such. i mean immediately the picture of dorian gray, and now orlando's up there for sure as well. if i'm allowed to count a short story collection i'll name story of your life and other stories by ted chiang, and then idk if it's recency bias but giovanni's room really stuck with me... and as a last pick i'll do the hearing trumpet by leonora carrington bc it was just a delightful read

16 - how many books have you read so far this year: don't actually know bc i'm on the tube right now but not many? i think i was reading eurotrash in january, then primavara la bug, then orlando, then ? i swear something else OH it was lincoln in the bardo, and now i've been reading the brothers karamazov for a While and will continue reading it for a While

5. What’s your favorite holiday song? (Can be any holiday)

good question that u probably know the answer to (did we end up doing it @ karaoke?) but its absolutely all i want for christmas. one time in december 2024 i was on my period & listening to the song & started thinking about mariah waiting all alone for the doorbell to ring being so heartbroken over being in an empty house on christmas and literally started streaming tears. other favs include queen's thank god its christmas and (shamefully but actually shamelessly) pentatonix's carol of the bells which, fun fact, was the first song i ever bought on itunes

6. Out of your family/friends, whose music taste is most different from yours?

oooh good question! im excluding extended family here bc they listen to old people stuff but theres a lot of overlap within my immediate family in diff ways so none of them probably. bc my music taste is so extensive i have smth in common w pretty much all my friends but i have one friend whose music taste is so narrow hes probably the answer - he listens to basically exclusively classical music and obscure romanian folk music. one time i was looking thru his liked songs and he had 6 (SIX) different sârbe in there (to which he said 'i'm a party oriented individual' < man who has never in his life gone clubbing). we have some overlap in the classical music category especially with romantic orchestral music (my beloved) but hes a big fan of opera which i don't rly enjoy

hayleymaxxing paramorepilled as always!!! so many fantastic lyrics to choose from but the opening lines r probably the most iconic: "i'm in the business of misery let's take it from the top" makes NO sense in the most delightful way and then "shes got a body like an hourglass it's ticking like a clock" is even BETTER like not only do the consonants in "ticking like a clock" add such a good percussive element to the musical dynamics but its also such a fun camp metaphor like. so good
