Okay, so, I can't possibly rule out, what with all of my ADHD, that I've seen someone mention this at some point or caught it out the corner of my eye, but... I don't think I've seen anyone do this before, So, here's the thing... Cleaning a makeup sponge (beauty blender) is a CHORE. It takes AGES! The method I've used so far is to squeeze and massage the sponge with a bit of dish soap, repeatedly, until it stops oozing colour, then rinsing and squeezing it repeatedly until it stops oozing soap. If the sponge has gotten fairly heavily stained, this takes a While. This has resulted in me not really using the sponge as much as I actually want to, because I don't actually want to clean it. Because it's a CHORE! But I've been doing my makeup a little more often recently and as a result my sponge had gotten a bit more grungy than I'd like and so I felt the need to clean it yet again. So there I was, in the kitchen, doing my first round of working soap into the sponge when I glanced to my side and my ADHD brain caught the sight of a protein shaker. You know, a large cup with a screw on lid that I used to drink a lot of water out of. So, looking at it, I had the impulse to just put the beauty blender in it and shake it until clean, and, well, why not. I put the beauty blender into the cup with a little bit of soap and a splash of water and screwed the lid on it and proceeded to shake the everloving FUCK out of the thing for perhaps 30-40 seconds. I then added more water and shook it for another 20-30 seconds. Dumped everything out, rinsed the cup out, rinsed the sponge off, put new water in the cup, put the sponge back in the cup, lid on, shake shake shake for 10-20 sec. Repeated this once or twice. And then rinsed and squeezed the sponge by hand for maybe a minute at most just to get the rest of the soap out. And... folks... darlings... you beautiful assortment of various fae and otherwise creatures that haunt this eclectic platform... THE FUCKING THING HAS NOT BEEN THIS CLEAN SINCE THE VERY FIRST TIME I EVER USED IT! It looks like NEW! I can find a small stain on it, but only by searching because I know that's where the worst staining was on it before! So... my dears... I can't possibly recommend this enough. - It's probably a lot gentler on my sponge than the previous method as my long nails have nicked this sponge and others before it. - It takes literally a fraction of the time I've spent on this before. - The result is better than my previous method. YMMV obviously, the level of staining especially is a variable. I tend to clean my tools fairly early, so the sponge my not have contained as much product as yours does, but it's by far the best method I've every tried!
