So, keep on reading for the 8 must follow makeup rules you can learn from the experts. 1. Embrace your natural beauty When wearing makeup, stick to the goal of embracing your natural beauty. According to makeup artist Hillary Kline, she keeps everything natural. “Even though applying makeup is my job, I’ve learned that natural is usually the best. Sometimes less really is more. I apply this rule especially when I put on foundation;

Figuring out how to do your makeup sounds easy, but can be so difficult. Some girls are definitely better at it than others (I fall into the “not good” camp). Makeup might come easily to those girls – so easily that they don’t have to rely on a guidebook or online tutorials or even suggestions. For those of us who have a hard time figuring out what goes where and how to apply different products, there are some tried-and-true makeup rules that are actually helpful.
of many reasons. I feel confident when I wear it. It is a temporary art form, very much like a mandala, which is meant to be washed away every evening, and there is something beautiful about the temporary nature of it. When I put it on, it’s a 30 minute session of self-love, which I have struggled with in my past. I also have a lot of anger towards my body because I feel like it (and my DNA) has betrayed me and I’m in pain so much of the time, so it is a transformative process where I spend time with myself and show myself care. I feel like I regain control of my body, not in a hiding my flaws way, but in a highlight my assets way. I like the fact that pain-somnia can be concealed with the application of some salmon coloured concealer and if that doesn’t work, then a nice bright red lippie distracts from my exhaustion.

@askalombax I was just gonna reblog @wrenchmxster /Jess’ post BUT it’ll end up being really long so I’ll put it in a separate post.
MAKE UP RULES: THE BASICS
Ohkay I was gonna recommend Jaclyn Hill but you said video tutorials can't do much for you.
SO RULE #1
YOU NEED A FLUFFY BLENDING BRUSH This brush can do wonders and if you just want a natural look this is probably the only brush you'll ever need for your eyes. Sigma E40
RULE #2
Find out your skin tone! Whether its cool, or warm. This is majorly important, it’ll help you decide what tones and colors look best on you. I’m a light warm yellow tone. There is a pinterest post about this, I will link you to it, I’m not sure if you’ll be able to see it, but I tried? Here’s the post.
RULE #3 ALWAYS MATCH YOUR FOUNDATION TO YOUR NECK! Why you ask? Because most of the time your neck and face can be two different shades, especially if you get a tan or self tan, etc. So for even skin tone, always match to your neck NO MATTER WHAT SHADE YOUR FACE IS!
RULE #4 ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE APPLYING MAKEUP! This is important so you don’t spread germs and get a breakout.
RULE #5 When applying foundation always use a foundation brush, stippling brush, etc. I think it applies the foundation more evenly and buffs it out better than using your fingers.
RULE #6 Concealer can be your best friend. And don’t forget to set it with a translucent or lighter tone powder.
RULE #7 BRONZER BRINGS LIFE AND DIMENSION TO YOUR FACE. Don’t be scared of looking like an oompa loompa, the right bronzer for your skin tone will make you look like you have a natural glow. Start at the top of the temples with a large fluffy face brush and do a 3 on the side of your face, on both sides.
RULE #8 DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK AN ASSOCIATE AT YOUR LOCAL SEPHORA/ULTA/MAKEUP COUNTER FOR HELP CHOOSING WHATS RIGHT FOR YOU!
RULE #9 ALWAYS USE AN EYESHADOW PRIMER. IT’LL MAKE YOUR EYESHADOW LAST THROUGH THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
RULE #10 SKINCARE. SKINCARE. SKINCARE. Always wash your face at night to remove all the excess from the day, also wash in the morning to have a fresh face and slate for your makeup. My favorite face wash is Purity by Philosophy. It is a prestige brand but I’ve tried drugstore brands all over the place and this is the best face wash I’ve ever used! I have my friends and family hooked! And believe me when I say I’ve tried A LOT of drugstore & prescription washes. Also don’t forget to moisturize! It is still important whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin! I can tell you my whole regimen for skincare but I am refraining from that right now because it is extensive and this post is already really long.
RULE #11 BLUSH BABY! Honestly this isn't a biggy, but since you don’t know much about makeup we’re covering it anyway. Jess I saw you said you don't wear blush because of rosacea, have you tried a more brownish bronze blush? Mac Margin is my favorite! It’s also great for everyday wear and if your not too keen on pink cheeks! It’s literally so beautiful! But blush basics, if you’re going for a pink cheek, always make sure you get one to go with your skin tone! If you have a warmer skin tone a cooler pink blush might turn an orangey pink and it’s not cute. (Speaking from experience) My favorite line of blushes is MAC Cosmetics.
RULE #12 MASCARA MAYHEM! Mascara can make a huge difference! It can really lift and wake up your eyes! And it’s really simple! If I’m barely wearing any makeup I will always wear mascara. Pick the the one thats formulated for the type of lashes you want! There’s volumizing, curling, fan effect, separating, etc. I don’t necessarily have a die hard mascara right now, but one of my favorites is Benefit’s Roller Lash and almost anything Maybeline, they have surprisingly good mascaras for such a low price.
RULE #13 EYELINER IS OPTIONAL! Eyeliner is always optional and I will say its one of the most difficult processes of makeup. There’s 4 kinds: gel, pencil, crayon, and liquid. I own different types of all 4. All eyeliner takes some practice and you certainly don’t need to wear it! There’s tons of beautiful looks you can do without any eyeliner at all! Pencil & Crayon kind are the easiest to work with, my favorite pencil is Clinique Egyptian, my favorite Crayon is Black by Rimmel London, my favorite gel is Blackest Black by Maybeline and my favorite liquid is Urban Decay 24/7 WaterProof Liquid. Gel is probably one of the most difficult ones to work with, it can be a learning process and you definitely won’t get it right the first time, sometimes if I’m doing winged gel liner it’ll take me a couple of tries and lets just say on those days you might not want to speak to me, cause eyeliner is one thing that will send me into a shitty mood quick.
RULE #14 LIPPY STICKS! Lipstick is by far optional! I don’t think you need it but its fun to play with and wear on special occasions. BUT ALWAYS use lip moisturizers and chapsticks to protect from cold/dry weather and the sun. If you’re like me as soon as temperature drops my lips get dry and chapped. So I’m always applying chapstick. Some of my favorites are, KORRES Lip Butter, SoftLips Vanilla, FRESH SUGAR Advances Therapy and EOS are fun!
RULE #15 TAKE IT OFF! Excuse me?! No, the makeup.. Don’t forget at the end of the day to remove all your makeup before washing your face! I use makeup wipes from Walmart and they work great for getting foundation and everything off. But sometimes that mascara and eyeliner can be tricky! For that I use Sephora Eye Makeup Remover, it works wonders and its not greasy or oily! Sephora Eye Makeup Remover and Equate Exfoliating Face Wipes.
SUGGESTIONS:
Eyeshadow: Morphe Cosmetics and Makeup Geek. She has the best eyeshadows out of ANYONE and they’re drugstore priced!
Blush: Mac Cosmetics by far.
Brushes & Tools: Sigma, Mac Cosmetics, Morphe and Makeup Geek.
All of these are brands and products I know and trust that work for me. Keep note that some of the products might not work for you and I am just recommending them based on my knowledge.
Don’t forget to experiment and learn what techniques and products work best for you!

How to make a makeup step by step and little tricks and rules
My dad is being a pain in the ass about me wearing “too much make up”. He tells me I’m trying to hide my beauty and shit like that. What about no dad? I literally told him to shut up and that I would wear as much or as little makeup as I wanted but that was my decision and that I was wearing it for myself. 2 years ago this would have made me feel like shit and insecure as fuck but honestly right now I’m just annoyed at how he thinks he has a say over what I put over my face.
