#makeup 101

— In 7th grade, I had a surgery and almost kicked the bucket. When I came back in 8th grade, I was still recovering and tired and I swear everyone had completely changed while I’d been out. The boys had facial hair and deep voices. The girls had boobs and wore makeup. (It was a very binary world in south Louisiana.)

— So I didn’t start wearing makeup at that point because I was too tired to try.

— Once I decided I wanted to try, I had no idea what the hell I was doing as my mom honestly doesn’t wear makeup and I was too embarrassed to ask anyone.

— A professional makeup artist showed me what to do later on, but when she finished doing her (complicated, expensive, time-consuming) thing, my face just didn’t look like my face at all and I didn’t like it.

—I’m too lazy for anything elaborate. I barely manage to remember to brush my hair some mornings.

—My skin hates me and everything else. Foundation makes me itch and my face gets rashy.

— Now that I’m more comfortable with myself, I’d like to try using some stuff. But I still don’t know what the fuck I’m doing, so...
