I’ve come to the uncomfortable conclusion that Anson Mount is a great Captain Pike EXCEPT when he’s trying to be funny. Then it’s like getting a root canal.
Yknow it is really funny that Captain Pike is a horseboy
Hot take: Strange New World feels…a little boring because it’s way too human. We’ve only had 4 alien crew members, and 2 of them are practically indistinguishable from humans in any significant way.
I feel like this is why they keep beating us over the head with Spock’s half Vulcan angst.
Part of what makes the other shows good is that we get word building + culture building for the Klingons, Trill, Bajorans, Ferengi, etc.
Respectfully, we’ve seen a LOT of Vulcan culture over franchise history. They should have give us more aliens in the cast so that we don’t have to beat up on Spock every week.
I want them to be BRAVE and add to the world building. What is Tellerite culture? Is their stigma against half-Bolians?
