When Your House Needs a Jacket (aka New Siding)
This winter was brutal on our house. Between the wind, snow, and that one ice storm that left our siding looking like a crumpled soda can, it’s clear: our exterior needs help. I’ve been avoiding the issue (because $$$), but after finding a draft coming through a siding seam (how?!), I started researching options.
Vantage Decks and Siding’s main site (link) popped up when I was comparing local contractors, and their emphasis on weather-resistant materials spoke to my soul. Maine doesn’t play nice, and neither should siding. The idea of steel-backed vinyl or fiber cement that mimics wood grain has me rethinking my "just paint it again" band-aid plan.
I’m not ready to commit yet (adulting is hard), but I’ve got a folder full of quotes and samples. Maybe this’ll be the year we stop pretending our siding isn’t crumbling. Or at least the year I stop yelling "Don’t lean on that!" at holiday gatherings.
