anyways so now i'm wondering just how many people with 'main character complexes' were raised by neglectful and/or authoritarian parents, and thus grew up consistently going the extra mile for half the affection. so now when they're told that their problems or personality traits are actually very common, that immediate response of discomfort isn't so much arrogance as its a deep rooted belief of failure
