Fluff 24 for maileeki (only if you want to, ofc) :)
So, I couldn't imagine any of them saying 24, so I did 25 instead. Sorry not sorry (I don't think I perfectly portrayed them)...
WRITING PROMPT 25: You look really cute in that
It was just a red sweater. Mai shouldn’t have been so distracted.
But it was the red sweater she had stolen from Suki three weeks ago, who had stolen it from Zuko when they went on a business flight to LA together, before she had moved in with Ty Lee and Mai. And Sokka had given it to Zuko when they were younger, before they started dating, and so it had been to almost everyone in their little gang. Mai wouldn’t have been surprised to find that Azula had given Sokka advice on what fabric Zuko liked in the beginning, or that Toph had ‘borrowed it’ from Ty Lee next.
The point was, the jumper held quite a sentimental meaning to them all. Not that Mai would ever admit to being sentimental.
There was just something about the way it was so large it practically swallowed Ty Lee’s little frame, and Ty Lee was humming and flitting around the kitchen and the sun was glowing through the windows, and she wasn’t exactly awake or thinking straight.
“You look really cute in that.”
Ty Lee paused from where she was operating the slow, rickety old coffee machine with one hand (Suki would be home from an early morning training session soon and sniffing out caffeine) and flipping through a dancewear catalog with the other. She was also hanging off the fan by her ankles, something that made Mai rather nervous. “What?”
“Never mind.” Mai looked away, and straightened up from where she was leaning on the doorframe. Giving out compliments wasn’t exactly her thing in this relationship. She didn’t really know how, preferring to show her love to Suki and Ty Lee through protecting them - Suki was a hulk of a soccer player, but Mai had done martial arts and knife-throwing, so absolutely nothing was going to happen to them on her watch.
“No,” Ty Lee rested her elbows on the counter and grinned teasingly. Her toes twitched. “What was that? Did I hear my wonderful girlfriend just say the word ‘cute’?”
This was an unfortunate time for Suki to burst in. Well, unfortunate for Mai. For Suki, it was a new story she was saving to tell Zuko when she got to work an hour later.
Suki, who was covered in mud and grass stains, who was grinning, who’s hair was flying everywhere and who’s soccer spikes were digging into the carpet, who crashed through the door and tackled Mai to the ground and pinned her.
“Get off me.” Mai could have wriggled out from under her, but Suki was covered in ick and she didn’t want to get more of it on her clothes than she could avoid. And, god, Suki was a fucking rock of muscles and strength, which made her rather hard to wriggling out from. Wriggling was undignified, in Mai’s mind.
“No,” Suki grinned, and gave Ty Lee a kiss as she swung down onto the counter. She tossed her soccer kit into a corner of the room and leant down eye to eye with Mai, who glared at her.
“I hate you.”
“You love us.”
“...
“I love you.”
