May 6, 2016 - Rotation #1 - My first rotation is Longitudinal Research. This basically means I will be working on a research project throughout the year. May is the placeholder month where I am choosing a topic, starting my planning, and submitting to the local IRB (Institutional Review Board - The board that approves research!). It has been one week since we’ve moved here and started our first rotation. It’s mostly been filled with research training, hospital orientations and introductions. I have a Medication Reconciliation rotation in July, which is also longitudinal, so I’ve been doing training for that as well (I’ll explain what that entails later). I’m excited to have chosen a research topic, and I’ve already started looking into current research and thinking about how I want to organize my study. I don’t have any experience in research, so this is all new and exciting! Julie and I are pictured here in front of the Mission Hospital Pharmacy Education center. We’ll be spending a lot of our time at Mission Hospital and MAHEC (Mountain Area Health Education Center).
