Turns out there was more to the tale as old as time than you saw in theaters. Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, a two-hour-plus spectacle stuffed with a dozen songs, hundreds of characters, and new scenes that fleshed out some plot holes from the animated original, left several bits on the cutting-room floor. Now, Yahoo Movies has your exclusive first look at one of those deleted scenes featuring Emma Watson‘s heroine (watch it above).

Director Bill Condon had conceived this scene to come early in the film, as Belle makes her way around her “provincial town” and interacts with its denizens. In a moment designed to show her kindness, Belle gives the beggar Agathe some bread and jam. Agathe, of course, is later revealed to be the disguised enchantress, and this scene is meant to contrast Belle’s generous spirit with that of the Prince, whose humiliation of Agathe led her to transform him into the Beast and curse his castle staff.

As Condon explains in his introduction, the deleted scenes “actually contain some of my favorite moments, but whether it was a question of running time or tonal shifts, they didn’t ultimately fit into the film.” The Belle-Agathe exchange is one of eight deleted scenes included on the Blu-ray and Digital HD versions of Beauty and the Beast. Other bonus content includes a featurette on the table read, which included fully produced song-and-dance numbers; breakdowns on how the key musical sequences were shot; and behind the scenes looks at Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, and John Legend as they recorded songs for the soundtrack.

Beauty and the Beast, the top-grossing film so far in 2017 with more than $1.23 billion in worldwide ticket sales, arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on June 6.

Imagine having to manufacture a whole history with someone you’d only just met. That’s the unenviable position that Moonlight co-stars Trevante Rhodes and Andre Holland found themselves in when they encountered each other on the set of Barry Jenkins’s acclaimed drama, which is up for eight awards at this Sunday’s Oscar ceremony, including Best Picture. “Trevante and I had not met in person before shooting our first scene,” Holland tells Yahoo Movies. “We talked for about 15 minutes, and then we started [filming].” (Watch the actors discuss their collaboration — and why Jenkins deliberately kept them apart prior to shooting — in an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the Moonlight Blu-ray, available on Feb. 28, above.)

Raising the stakes of that first scene is the fact that both Holland and Rhodes had to communicate a lifetime’s worth of experiences between their characters on the spot. Told in three chapters, Moonlight is a coming of age story that follows young Chiron from childhood to adulthood, as he wrestles with his emerging sexuality and intense attraction to a school friend, Kevin. Rhodes and Holland inherit these respective roles in the film’s third and final segment, which picks up roughly a decade after their teenage years, when they acted upon their mutual attraction only to part ways under terrible circumstances.

While Chiron is at the center of the film, Moonlight is equally Kevin’s story, and the contrast between the two when we meet them again as adults is striking. While Chiron keeps his true identity bottled up in an alpha male’s muscular body, Kevin is more at ease in his own skin — to a point anyway. “I don’t imagine that he’s openly living the life of a gay man,” says Holland, who devised his own backstory for Kevin to fill in the missing years between the second and third segments. “He’s still very much in a community where he has to wear a bit of a mask. But the experience of meeting Chiron again allows him to be who he is. That’s the magic of their reunion: They find a harbor in each other.”

Kevin re-connects with Chiron over a meal at the Miami diner where he serves triple duty as a chef, cashier and waiter. Rather than making his old flame order off the menu, Kevin whips up a special plate of Cuban favorites that Holland says he prepared entirely by himself. “I really wanted to use my hands to make that meal,” he explains, admitting that he received some plating lessons from the restaurant’s owner off-camera. “The cilantro topping was a bit problematic; I wanted to chop it enough to where it looked cool on the plate, but it was so wet and small. Every time I see the movie, I’m like ‘Oh, I wish I had chopped it a little finer!'”

There’s a lot of chemistry, and no “spaghetti arms,” in this rare footage of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey’s Dirty Dancing screen test. This Yahoo Movies exclusive clip, taken from a new featurette on the 30th anniversary Dirty Dancing Blu-Ray, shows the two stars getting to know each other as they work through some dance steps. One is a lift, not unlike the one that causes Baby (played by Grey) seriously anxiety in the film. Swayze, an experienced ballet dancer by the time he made the film, instructs Grey to lift her chest so he doesn’t hurt her ribs. “It hurts my ribs,” she replies, giggling, as Swayze gently puts her down. Watching these two together, it’s hard to imagine how the producers could have cast anyone else.

“I remember the screen test with Patrick was really exciting and really fun,” Grey says in interview footage from 2003. “If someone is really just there, really just for you, you can feel it. And he had a way of dancing with me that was far superior to everybody… and we were comfortable with each other.”

The Dirty Dancing 30th anniversary DVD and Blu-ray, which includes the full featurette among its new special features, is available now.

Some Sundance success stories take longer to develop than others. While class of ’17 debuts like The Big Sick, Call Me by Your Name, and Mudbound have been available to general audiences for months, another, the critically acclaimed drama Golden Exits, will finally open in February, more than a full year after premiering in Park City.

The fifth feature from writer-director Alex Perry Ross (Listen Up Philip, Queen of Earth) is an ensemble affair about a loosely connected group of Brooklynites whose already troubled lives and relationships are gradually upended by the arrival of an outsider.

The disruptive force is Naomi (Emily Browning), a twentysomething Aussie hired to be the new assistant of the discontented archivist Nick (Adam Horovitz, a.k.a. Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys).

It’s not long before Naomi’s presence provokes jealousy from Nick’s therapist wife, Alyssa (Chloë Sevigny), and her suspicious sister, Gwendolyn (Mary-Louise Parker). Meanwhile, Naomi reconnects with an old family friend, Buddy (Jason Schwartzman), whose marriage to Jess (Analeigh Tipton) could be threatened as a result.

2018 movie preview: The 50 movies we’re most excited to see

The 50 best movies of 2017

There are no zombies in sight, but the danger feels omnipresent for Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal in the dark and brooding trailer for the new thriller, Sweet Virginia (watch exclusively above).

Bernthal, known for antagonistic roles in the AMC hit series and films like Baby Driver as well as the antihero Punisher on Netflix’s Daredevil, plays Sam, a former rodeo star in small-town Alaska who unwittingly strikes up a relationship with Elwood (It Comes at Night’s Christopher Abbott), a stranger who is responsible for a triple murder that’s gripped the rural community.

(An earlier draft of the screenplay was set in Virginia, but while the setting moved, the film’s title remained intact.)

“This is only gonna go one direction,” Sam warns Elwood over the course of a tense diner sit-down. And he’s not talking about the British pop band.

Directed by Jamie M. Dagg (River) from a script by The China Brothers, the film also stars Imogen Poots, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Odessa Young.

Sweet Virginia opens Nov. 17.

In this summer’s smash hit Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland came of age as webcrawler Peter Parker. For his next act, he’ll go back to the Middle Ages in the religious dramatic thriller, Pilgrimage.

Set in early-13th century Ireland, Pilgrimage follows a group of monks embarking on a dangerous mission across war-torn lands to transport their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. In their way stand clashing tribes and Norman invaders.

Holland’s Brother Diarmud (whose curly locks recall another famous sacred object-bearing adventurer, Frodo of The Lord of the Rings) is clearly the wettest behind the ears of these monks. As you see in Yahoo Movies’ exclusive clip above, this leads to a spiritual smackdown of the highest order from his elder Brother Geraldus (Outlander‘s Stanley Weber).

Directed by Brendan Muldowney (Savage, Love Eternal) and written by Jamie Hannigan, Pilgrimage also stars Richard Armitrage, Jon Bernthal, John Lynch, and Tristan McConnell. The film opens in theaters and on video on demand Aug. 11.

  Keanu Reeves isn’t in The Bad Batch for all that long, but he makes his presence felt.

The man who moonlights as John Wick pops up in Ana Lily Amirpour‘s dark and buzzed-about dystopian thriller/love story to play The Dream, a cultishly followed, acid-peddling man of mystery who reigns over the film’s desert dance party like Steve Rubell at Studio 54.

You can get a taste for Reeves’s meaty turn in the exclusive clip above. (And yes, that’s Diego Luna in a cameo as the DJ.)

Written and directed by Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), The Bad Batch stars model Suki Waterhouse (Love, Rosie) in the revelatory role of Arlen, a woman who lands in a Texas wasteland, where she barely survives a run-in with cannibals to find Comfort, the Burning Man-esque enclave where the action above takes place. The film also stars Jason Momoa, Jayda Fink, Giovanni Ribisi, and an unrecognizable Jim Carrey.

The Bad Batch opens Friday.

When are these bad guys going to realize that you never mess with a man’s dog?

Roughly a thousand henchmen learned that lesson the hard way after Keanu Reeves‘ pup was killed in the crowd favorite John Wick, and now Bruce Willis will surely make some folks die hard after his furry friend is dognapped in the new comedic action thriller Once Upon a Time in Venice.

As you can see in the exclusive clip above, Venice Beach P.I. Steve Ford (Willis) just had his home robbed, but all he wants when he tracks down the suspects (led by Spyder, played by Jason Momoa) is his beloved pooch Buddy back.

Spyder puts a $4,000 price tag on the pet. But really it’s just the beginning for these two, as Ford will eventually be lured into helping Spyder track down some stolen cocaine and cash in exchange for Buddy.

Directed by Mark Cullen from a script he co-wrote with brother Rob Cullen (the pair previously scripted Willis’ 2010 action-comedy Cop Out), Once Upon a Time in Venice also stars John Goodman, Thomas Middleditch, Famke Janssen, Stephanie Sigman, Adam Goldberg, Kal Penn, Christopher McDonald, and Wood Harris. It opens in theaters and on video-on-demand Friday, June 16.
