Change of life
There comes a time when even the most stubborn of people has to take a look at what is going on around them. Â Unless they are dumb,or just aren't right. Â See the world in black and white, see it as pain and suffering. Â Selfish.
What the goblin's unearthed in that sanctuary.  The destruction it had wrought upon the picturesque autumnal landscape.  It took one's breath away.  Before and after, having seen both and knowing that no others could see what it was.  The armor and colors of a Kor’kron had grown very heavy.  So much had happened in such a short time, the world sundered, old rivalries reawakened.  Destruction had begun to flow back across the world.  What's an orc to do.  Watching as other races were pushed away, friends and comrades in arms, worried that the city wasn't safe. Â
Shops and bars were boarding up, getting re-purposed for some grand vision. Â It was good for work, allowed me time to hone my craft. Â To know I was more than a sword and shield. Â Suppose that makes me a terrible orc, not happy being a part of the war band. Â The Horde is the purpose, all of it, not just one race. Â That's why we are where we are, helping each other. Â Strange thoughts, nothing ever became better after infighting. Â People can't swallow their pride, history repeats itself.
There was a small band of us that finally refused. Â When the land outside the city was razed and turned into increasingly sized fortifications. Â I'd like to think we fought for the right reasons. Â Even if they were our brothers and sisters in arms. Â The sentiment was returned as they marched us to our cages. Â As they began to empty one at a time. Â If only we had waited just a bit longer to start a riot. Â The combined might of Alliance and Horde brought down to crack open the heart of the capital. Â Looking up into the eyes of rescuers, and not understanding a word they were spouting. Â Cutting me loose from the execution line.
I repaid that debt, by not picking up my swords again, instead it was a hammer. Â Smaller than a weapon of any convenience, and manned a forge instead of a post. Â Supporting the Horde for what it should be, like friends died for. Â There is still honor in that. Â Or maybe it doesn't matter, honor doesn't keep you breathing. Â Not cursing out the dead, you got a reason to die, go for it.
Metalwork makes me feel right at home, creating something instead of destroying. Â Melting and hitting, and then it is made. Â And then people pay you for it, they pay me to work out my anger. Â Just so long as I do it in the shape they want. Â Easy enough life. Â Hit things that don't hit back, get paid. Â Simple as that, what more could an retired warrior orc ask for.
