Send ‘GAME OVER’ to get a glimpse of one of the worse possible endings that can happen to my muse in their life.
“GAME OVER” <- @magicmusket
The world of the girl was a lonely place.
There she lived, by herself, with no other to accompany her (besides the coming-and-goings of the shopkeeper).
Her days were quiet, uneventful, yet she never questioned them. They had simply become her state of being. Get up, take a bath, eat, tinker with whatever random junk she could find, sleep, repeat. Repeat. Repeat. She remembered nothing of who she was, and so she had no reason to question this stagnant existence. Before she knew it, she had lost track of how many times she had done it. It seemed the eternal cycle would continue forever and ever...
Until one day, ‘it’ appeared. Or rather, ‘he’ did.
A monitor she’d found one day had linked with someone. The person could only speak through limited words--unable to even share their name--yet they communicate their feelings to her directly.
They were both equally confused, yet over time, something formed between them. The warmth of ‘his’ thoughts... He awoke something in her. A feeling that broke the girl free from her stagnation, that made her question more of what was around her.
Soon, they discovered that ‘he’ could help awaken her memories. And the long process of recovering them began... And should have completed.
A week had passed since his last visit. Two weeks. A month.
“He’ll come by soon, I’m sure...”
Two months. Three. The girl’s insistence with herself soon became a desperate plea. Each day, she would check the monitor, and each day she would get no response.
She left him voicemails, wondering if he would get them.
“I had that nightmare again... The one where it was dark, and I couldn’t see anyone or anything around me...”
Why hasn’t he come back yet? Did I do something wrong...?
Four months. Five. The girl’s sense of time was beginning to fade out again.
Please. Come back. Don’t leave me alone again...
Months lost meaning. Years lost meaning. Time lost meaning.
... Were you even here, to begin with...?
The promised future would not come.
