STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT introduces additional ‘Gamma Worldline’ route - Gematsu
MAGES. and Spike Chunsoft have released a new trailer for STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT introducing the “Gamma Worldline” route—a new story route created for the game.
Here is an overview of the new route, via Spike Chunsoft:
About the Additional Route
After enduring countless brutal ordeals, protagonist Rintaro Okabe finds himself cast into a new worldline. In this world, the time machine was never completed, and D-Mails, messages capable of altering the past, do not exist. Vastly diverging from the worldline he knows, Okabe struggles to comprehend the situation. Seeking help, he rushes to the lab, only to be met with hostile stares from the very lab members who should be his friends. In this additional route, the story depicts a Gamma Worldline, where the persona of Hououin Kyouma, the driving force behind the main story, never existed. Instead, Okabe dirties his hands alongside Moeka Kiryu and is confronted with loneliness and despair. A new kind of brutality, unlike anything seen before, awaits both Rintaro Okabe and the player.
We invite you to see this story through to its end.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on August 20 in Japan. The Xbox Series and PC versions will launch on the same day in the west, while the PlayStation 5, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and Switch versions will launch on October 29.

I just finished your playthrough. It was so long but still - I wanted moooore!. So my question. Does it make sense to play it again as Guardian (played as an Air Mage) with a different Affinity? Is there much difference yet at the point where you reach G.A.? I have played a Light Guardian that far, or should I wait for the next update to play them?
Hi! I would say yes. There are a lot of story differences depending on if you choose Mage or Guardian. Light/dark affinities get some unique interactions aside from the more fight/training scenes. Personality changes how the MC interacts with others as well. Who you ask for help from in the prolgoue changes things. Who you go to the Canterberry festival with changes things. Lots of little stuff!
So, are light/dark mages just straightforwardly worse than guardians of their respective Affinity? One of your posts mentions guardians lose conduction, but their strength remains since it's an enhancement like prodigy intelligence. It seems like that added strength would be a major boon since light/dark affinities need to be able to touch people, and fight in melee range.
Yes, basicallyy.
In-world, it’s why light/dark Mages seek occupations in diplomatic espionage/interrogation or as private healers/medical professors. They tend to avoid field work whereas light/dark Guardians are more likely to engage in undercover operations or be combat healers.
In-game, there are/will be plenty of opportunities to boost aptitude/physical. And, when it comes to fighting, stat checks will include both aptitude and physical options. So, even if a light/dark Mage is focusing solely on their magic, there will be a way for them to succeed.
The insurgent run-in is an example of the types of options/checks you can expect.
