“ i know you don’t believe me, but i’m trying to help. and i could actually do what i need to if you’d stop questioning me. ” - @mageiisms for James

He wasn't used to needing help. Usually, whenever something happened with his prosthetics, it would be discovered in routine checkups, or he would deal with it himself. James Ironwood was very good at making sure that his whole body was in good, working order, that he was in tip-top shape, so that he could continue leading Atlas the best he could.
So when he'd discovered an issue he couldn't deal with his on his own, he'd had to consider asking for help. Before he could, though, Salem had shown up. It was clear that she hadn't been sleeping very well recently, and he tried to ask about what had happened, if there was some way that he could help.
She'd been able to see that HE had needed help by the way he was holding himself, and interrupted him before he could finish his (admittedly hypocritical) interrogation. He blinked at her words, and then inclined his head, a soft, almost sheepish smile on his face.
"I apologize," he murmured, "I merely want to assist." (Again, hypocritical; it was hard for him to accept help, but he could offer it freely.)
