TMA What We Know -[15]- Lost John's Cave
( Im about to listen to this and my reaction to hitting play was 'alright then. let's dive in to Lost John's Cave' <- an objectively terrible thing to dive in to )
( -I've gone caving before., just wanna put that out there. dunno if the writers of this podcast have gone caving, and Im definitely no expert, but I Have done the 'only enter if you can fit through this hole' type of caving. so I'll be Judging.
-plus once I went to one that had an underwater bit,, that was 100% the scariest one. it was this tiny ~4ft long stretch of crawl in a tight gap that was entirely under water. (the rest of the cave wasn't full of water, there was just an area that had shin to knee height water). if you get stuck there you just drown.you just straight up drown. and it's also entirely dark with the exception of the helmet light. so you can't even see where the water ends, you gotta just keep elbowing your way through it until you can breathe again. )
-describes cave entrance as "a perfect fit" <- pretty normal for a cave entrance? it has to fit a human person, and usually it's as tight of a fit as possible, so that would be 'a perfect fit'
-ritual of turning off helmet lights and just sitting in a dark cave for a bit is a real thing!! Ive done it with caving groups before :D
-Alena made a comment about 'conquering fears' before she did her cave dive. would be funny if she got haunted out of sheer indignity at the concept of Fears getting Conquered
-Laura hears a spooky whisper
-she thinks she hears Alena ask her how lost she is, Alena denies saying anything. but we know Alena is a silly little prankster, so. take that as you will.
-actually take the whole statement as you will, given it's canon that Alena is a silly little prankster,.
-tunnel disappears behind her, her light goes out
-sees a light in the distance carried by a hand, she's positive it's malicious, she hears Alena calling for help
-and suddenly she's ok!! yayy horray
^standard caving experience probably.
-she says she 'hasn't been underground since, and doesn't intend to'.
-no record of Laura & Alena's cave permit, plus plenty of records of other people in that cave that day
-Sasha examined the cave maps and says Laura's route is 'nonsensical'
-Laura's husband's police report is real, and claims they went to the cave
-Martin was sent to check details but refused to because he's claustrophobic, Tim checked instead and found that Laura wasn't found outside the cave (like she claimed in the statement), but instead was found inside it, kneeling next to 'a pile of burnt out candles'. <-Laura's husband denies Laura taking any candles there in the first place
-Laura became responsive once brought above ground
^all of that^ might imply that sometimes when people are haunted, it's happening entirely in their heads, and the physical reality of things are different. or maybe always. idk ig we'll see
-Tim got access to Laura's camera and copied the footage (<-implied that he's seducing people again to get the intel). footage shows complete darkness (either due to Cave or Lens-cap), audio is of Laura repeating "take her not me" for 2 hours and 43 minutes. <-completely valid, I don't fault her at all. rip Alena but my girl Laura's gotta look out for herself first 👍
-no sign of Alena emerged since, and for absolutely Whatever reason Jon decides not to contact Laura for a followup.
