Process

Create a sigil of your choice. I’ll be using a return-to-sender sigil but you could also use a premade generic protection sigil or something. It really depends on your preference.

Draw the sigil nice and big on your paper. Use thick lines to make sure the sigil is clear and strong. As you draw it, focus on the intent you have for it. Envision your intention flowing from your hand into the ink and on to the page.

Once you’ve finished the sigil and the ink has dried, burn it someplace you can collect the ashes. I have a special pail specifically for burning things.

Thoroughly mix the salt, cinnamon, and eggshell powder with the ashes of the sigil. Feel your intent flowing into the mixture and saturating it the more you mix it.

You’re done! Use the powder as you like, for example in warding jars, or spread lines over the windows and doors of your home.

Ingredients:

A piece of paper cut into the shape of a tongue, with the target’s name written on the underside, and your name written on top in quotations (like this: “YourNameHere”)

Lemon Juice

Hot sauce

Instructions:

Take the tongue and put a drop of lemon juice and a small squirt of hot sauce over your name. As you do this, say out loud, “My name is a sour flame on your tongue; every time you speak my name, it burns you.”

Roll up the tongue with the hot sauce on the inside, and then light it on fire. As it burns, repeat the incantation 3 times.

Dump the ashes somewhere away from your home, preferably in a nasty dumpster.

Spread a thick line of warding powder over your windows and door frames

Anoint a mirror with warding oil and place it in your entryway, facing the doorway if possible. If you have a back door, do it there, too.

Make a clay decoy for yourself (and people in your home, if you wish, one for each person) and place in a return-to-sender warding jar.

Have a cactus in each corner of your home, ideally planted outside but some of us live in apartments). If possible place one in north, south, east, and west positions, but if you can’t then each corner is fine.

If you’re one of those people that hangs wreaths on their door, make an evil eye 🧿 wreath and hang it on your front door.

Self

Carry black tourmaline and blue kyanite with you.

Anoint a chunk of Himalayan pink salt with your warding oil and hang it from your rearview mirror.

Carry a protection/reflection sigil with you; in your pocket, in your bra, in your sock, in your wallet, whatever. Probably don’t tattoo it on you though, that will bind the energy to you.

Charm your favorite perfume/cologne/body spray/deoderant (or make one yourself) and use it daily. A quick way to do this is to draw a sigil on the bottom of the container and shake it up a bit before you use it to disperse and renew the energy.

Charm a talisman to draw negative energy and intentions away from you and into itself, and carry it with you. Cleanse it regularly; weekly for normal life, at the end of a rough day, and during the full moon.

Carry a water bottle with you with lemon-infused water and drink it throughout the day. It’s also refreshing and keeps you hydrated so it’s a win-win-win. For extra oomph infuse water with your favorite protective flavors and freeze, then add a few ice cubes to your water so the energy is fresh throughout the day.

Open your windows, especially if it’s raining

Hang a native-made dream catcher over your bed

Get a crystal keychain to carry around with your house keys

Hang a tiger’s eye from your rear view mirror

Light a candle and set an intention (even if that intention is just to get through the day, or to be thankful, or to get something done, or to relax)

Tidy up a room

Go for a walk

Make a cup of tea or coffee and stir an intention into it (clockwise to summon something, counterclockwise to banish it)

Put out an offering for the fae (honey, nuts, and berries is a favorite of mine)

Open a window

Do a one- or three-card personal tarot spread

Take a bath (it’s really easy to light some candles and include a spell bomb or bath salts and make it a spell or ritual bath!)

Hang wind chimes outside your home

Meditate

Water your plants

Research a new herb or crystal

Hold your hands under cold running water, close your eyes, and connect with the water for a moment (it’s also easy to do this outside in the dirt for earth, or to put your hand outside your car window for air)

Love on your pets

Listen to music that makes you feel witchy (Stevie Nicks is a favorite of mine)
