Joel could never turn down a dare, his slightly drunken pride would not allow it, even if it was a dumb dare to slow dance with someone from his even dumber friend.

“I don’t know how to dance, idiot, and I don't think anyone else here does either.”

“I know how to dance.” Scar chirped unhelpfully, sitting up straight and shooting him an innocent smile.

Jimmy giggled and goaded him on with the rest of the group as Scar stood, pausing to whisper something to Jimmy before he made his way over to where Joel sat begrudgingly, offering him a hand which he took.

Scar helped him up oh so gentlemanly and brought up Joel’s hand to rest on his shoulder, putting himself in the position to lead the dance. Joel made a surprised noise as Scar pulled him to his chest and wrapped a steady arm around his waist to hold him close, certainly not leaving any room for jesus.

“This alright?” Joel, in his tipsy and very flustered state could only splutter and nod with reddening cheeks and an unsteady hand holding Scar’s shoulder more securely as Jimmy excitedly typed something into his phone and a slow gothic song started to play.

Scar took hold of his other hand, holding it firmly but gently as he pressed Joel to himself even closer and started their dance.

Joel couldn’t help but notice how small his hands were compared to Scar’s as the man began to lead him into taking small steps, how nicely their calloused palms fit together and their fingers interlocked as they swayed gently.

Scar kept the dance simple but upped it to a small circling movement and Joel still found himself stumbling with an embarrassing mixture of nerves and slight intoxication. Scar smiled all too charmingly as he guided him into taking smoother steps and relaxing more in his steady arms, muttering praises as Joel began to get the hang of it as the song reached a crescendo.

Joel focused in on the low song Scar chose, clocking it as a love song that Joel knew Scar picked very intentionally.

Joel also noticed the admittedly nice view of Scar’s chest that he was eye level with, the man’s shirt unbuttoned more than necessary as usual, showing his broad and hairy pecs flatteringly.

Joel felt warmth stirring in his stomach as he found himself just noticing how much more Scar towered over him too, startling himself with how much he wanted to press his ear against his chiseled chest to hear if the oh so suave man’s heart was beating just as fast as his own right now.

“My eyes are up here you know.”

Joel felt his blush reach his ears as he tore away his transfixed gaze, swallowing thickly at the way he had to crane his neck to look up at Scar’s knowing grin.

Goddamn how did joel never notice how handsome Shane’s manager was.

Joel stuttered out an apology that made Scar chuckle and squeeze his waist playfully, causing him to jump and squirm at the intimate touch he gave him so casually.

Joel made a questioning noise as Scar noticeably slid his arm tighter around his waist and gasped as Scar tilted him into a dip that brought them face to face and left mere inches between them.

Joel’s heart raced even faster as he found himself unafraid of falling in Scar’s safe grasp and a little lost in his deep green eyes that sparkled with delight.

“Thanks for the dance, gorgeous.” Scar whispered lowly, pressing a smiling kiss to his cheek that Joel felt nearly suffocated by the heat his body gave off in response.

Scar brought him back upright smoothly and placed one last kiss on his hand before releasing him and sitting back down.

Joel jumped as the group whooped and whistled, forgetting that they weren’t alone and that he had just been so thoroughly whipped a moment ago in front of all his friends. He felt himself nearly tremble with embarrassment as he realized that the song had already ended and he had just been standing there in his dazed attraction as everyone watched.

He blushed even brighter if possible and sat down himself, accidentally catching Shane’s strangely hard eyes for a moment before burying his red face in his hands. Gem shook his shoulder slightly, and he pushed her hands away and groaned with embarrassment as she giggled at him.
