The idea between Ambre, Priya, and Jonah is that they’re part of the same “generation” as the canon monks, but would have been toddlers/babies at the start of the series. Anything involving them takes place roughly ten years after the end of the series. Raimundo has finally achieved the rank of Master Monk, and, like a parent whose kids have gone to college so they adopt a dog, accepts apprentices to the temple now that the other dragons are out on their own quests. (They still visit, don’t worry)

Ambre Dupont, there on the left, is making no effort to dispel any stereotypes about the French. Native to Marseilles, France, she spent her childhood relentlessly perfecting her ballet, refining her tastes, and being insanely pompous. She’s the product of helicopter parents with loads of expendable cash, so she’s become very used to being dotted on and praised. 

She comes to the temple at 15, the youngest of them, to be the dragon of lightning. It has been a long time since anyone told her ‘no’, and it takes her quite some time that, yes, Raimundo is the boss of her. Her experience in dance and beauty pageants has taught her to see her teammates as competitors, Priya in particular. Everyone outside of her family is an enemy, and the only way to defeat them is by being better than them at everything. Her martial arts and elemental ability are superb, but she needs to learn to trust other’s abilities, and how to ask for help when she needs it.

Priya Kapoor is refreshingly mild mannered compared to her teammates. She is compassionate, attentive, and diligent. She is the middle child of the Kapoors, a middle class family living in New Delhi, India. Before coming to the temple, she had wanted to become a doctor, and therefor ends up being the one to take of the others when they’re sick or injured. Her worst fears are being bothersome, or useless. As a result she feels too much anxiety to openly talk about any distress she may be under “no, no, I’m fine, are you ok?”, and is selfless to the point of forgetting self preservation. She’s Ambre’s foil in a lot of ways, viewing the well being of all other people on Earth as being more important than her own.

Her element is spirit, and she devotes a lot of her time to studying the theory behind it. She does the most research, so becomes the most knowledgeable about the magical aspects. As a woman of medicine, she is especially fascinated by Dojo, and examines him often. He doesn’t like this, but he puts up with it because she isn’t grossed out by his ailments, and so she takes care of him. She desperately wants to be Ambre’s friend, and can’t for the life of her figure out why she doesn’t like her.  Her lifelong practice of avoid confrontation makes the combat part of being a xiaolin apprentice very difficult for her. She very rarely engages an enemy, preferring to use her element to assist her teammates. She’s skilled with her element, and at working as part of a team, but the challenge with her is teaching her to be more confident and assertive.

And last is Jonah Lawson, the ultimate Mom Friend. His parents, both detectives in Miami, Florida, worked long hours and relied on him to take care of his siblings while they were at work. He excelled in his role as Brother Mom, with chore wheels and novelty snacks and a fierce protective instinct. He relies on rules and routine to take care of his family, and disorganization. The unquestioned authority he’s had in his family for so long has made him bossy, and stubborn, and he and Ambre often clash. Because he is the oldest and the boy, he feels like it is his responsibility to take care of Priya and Ambre, which neither of them are particularly fond of. 

His element is light, but he is very unlikely to use it. The sensation of using an element is foreign to him, so he wants to avoid it. The most he does is use the light energy to enhance the power of his punches. Raimundo tries his best get Jonah to use his element more, but it’s like pulling teeth. Jonah is TERRIBLE at taking criticism; he takes every comment as a personal attack. If he wants to stay on level with the other monks, he’s going to have to learn how to not be in control all the time

there’s a lot of ways this scenario can turn out depending on the specific circumstances that everybody bites it but ultimately i think the most likely result would be clay basically staying in the xiaolin biz, kinda keeping vigil, y’know. there’ll definitely be survivor’s guilt. a lot of it. hopefully dojo’s still there ‘cause i like dojo and clay’s friendship, and also i’d hope that there’s someone around to help him not break down. but anyways, even with all the pressures clay takes on, i think in the end he’d manage to pull through. i’m not sure if he would take kids as apprentices, i think if that was the only given option then he’d prefer to do things himself. but he’d realize pretty quickly that he can’t, he’s still a pretty down-to-earth guy and he’d know when he’s in over his head, so he takes on apprentices. probably screws up, wasn’t exactly meant to be a teacher, maybe tries to remember what fung was like and fails miserably at that.

in any case, at the beginning it’d be hard for him, but even if he can’t recover, he can pull through.
