The holidays werenât exactly a time of year Winter enjoyed. She would rather ignore them and stay home where it was nice and quiet, but the invitation to spend it with Qrowâs family--and everyone else invited by extension--was one she would have felt guilty declining.
Winter had been assured that everything would go fine and that she would have an opportunity to strategically leave if necessary. With hasty greetings out of the way once they entered, as it seemed everyone was busy with other tasks, Winter felt awkwardly out of place. The teams were talking eagerly among themselves, occasionally shouting over another conversation another group was having to catch the attention of someone else, and it made her ears ring. Taiyang had gone off to the kitchen, she thought there was mention of keeping an eye on something on the stove. A quick glance around and she realized Qrow had been roped into something with the girls. By the looks of it, it seemed they were setting up a video game.
She was on her own. For a moment she thought of catching her sisterâs attention, but it seemed she was busy with a conversation with one of her friends. Not wanting to interrupt, Winter chose to head into the kitchen.
Maybe there was less chaos there.
She would have thought that was the case until she realized it wasnât only Taiyang the kitchen, but her boss as well. That was unexpected.
âGeneral Ironwood, sir?â
