I’m mostly thinking of season one though, which is basically FOREST FOREST FOREST...OOH RIVER (could be the Potomac, probably not though), also BUNKER WITH GUNS IN IT (which may not exist in real life)
I’m really only basing the idea of S1 being somewhere in Virginia off of the fact that that (specifically, as I said in the tags but for those who don’t read those, Clarke(!!!) and Loudoun Counties) is where Mount Weather’s real-world location is, which I’m assuming the show is sticking with. But writers aren’t necessarily that good with geography either, and artistic license is a thing.
I just wanted to respond to your missing Josh & Zac post. I sometimes miss them, but it's more like a bad break up where I miss the idea of them but realise they were so toxic and everything is better without them. That's just my two cents though.
Now, that ..is an exact description of the appropriate way to miss them.
Hi, I see that you're a history grad student, I'm considering this life path after I graduate from uni, but I'm really freaked out by the work load, and that I'm not even good enough to be a grad student and I feel overwhelmed already! I called one of my possible schools and totally blanked once I got someone that could answer questions and idk it's scary but I really like history. Help?
I’m actually a library science grad student at Pratt Institute (Mahattan campus), but my focus is in archival studies so it’s closer to being a history grad student than not.
The work load is definitely a lot, but in the humanities, grad school is mostly made up of reading a lot (which we history majors are good at - my undergrad degree is in history). The assignments themselves are actually easier than what you do as an undergraduate because most grad students have to balance school with things like jobs and whatnot. The actual work you have to do is simpler and easier - it’s mostly reading with some small essays! (Science grad students, on the other hand, have a ton of work to handle because they’re thrown into research right away. We don’t have to worry as much about the independent research bits until we go for our PhD.s.)
Everyone who wants to be a grad student is good enough to be a grad student. It’s about passion for your subject at this level, and as long as you can read and write and you’re a good undergraduate student you’ll be just fine, I promise. I was terrified before I started, too, but I’m now in my second of four semesters and I love it so much.
When you call schools, write down a list of questions beforehand so you’ll always have something to ask! You can even make a typed form and print it out, then fill it in for each school as you get your questions answered and make a decision that way. It’ll hopefully help you feel like you’ve got more of a game plan!
