Oh absolutely! I just mean like before everyone did a full 180 on him. To be fair I was always on team his family are the same as Ellie’s politically. Same with Emma’s. Everyone in his family and hers all follow republicans/trumpies on twitter. But it makes sense considering I don’t think anyone would marry or be in a serious relationship if you have opposite political views in today’s climate!

There’s a Matthew tkachuk fic I read on here! It’s 4+1 and it’s like 4 times you took care of matthew and the one time matthew gets to take care of you and idk who it’s by but like one time he gets a concussion another he’s drunk and the one with you is you being sick!!!

it depends how you define popular. i think one of the more well-known players who used to date a poc was nathan mackinnon, when he was with vanessa morgan. allegedly, matthew tkachuk dated a filipino girl way back too but i think it was more of a situationship. their is probably some others, but those are the only ones that come to mind.

Keith tkachuk basically is fond of Ellie, look at how much Ellie looks similar to his wife. Keith has been inviting Ellie to Tkachuk family vactions for 4 years….Ellie and Matthew Tkachuk have NOT even been official for 4 years… inviting her to the lake on weekends, to Europe FAMILY vacations, to the games sitting with their family NOT the wags, inviting her to trips where not even Taryn or Bradys GF was present. Inviting Ellies mom to games very often as well. All while Mathew was with his various hookups, flings, & past girlfriends. Also, Ellie Connell mother and Chantal Tkachuk have been best friends since they were teenagers. The Connell family even has a house in Saint Louis near the Tkachuk home. Ellies mom and Chantal Tkachuk had been pushing for Matt to date Ellie but Matt was never interested hence his various flings throughout the years. Ellie obviously knew Matt was not interested in her but i mean the odds were in her favor since Matts own parents were practically setting up the entire relationship for her, and she herself wanted to be with Matt, so of course she played the game and went along. Once Matt got to florida Keith went overdrive in making sure Matt made it official with Ellie. Did u kno Matt did not want to walk the red carpet at the NHL awards with Ellie, but who do you think invited her anyway without informing Matt until hours before? KEITH. Ellie even had to borrow an item she wore that night from Taryn tkachuk last minute, since she didn’t even kno the color of suit Matt was wearing. Who do u think got Ellie introduced to the Florida wags & wag events even tho Matt had not paid wags fees, or wanted officially introduced to wags? Mr. KEITH himself. Keith liked Ellie for Matthew & was going to get Matthew to date her one way or another, its not necessarily that he has acted “inappropriate” towards HER or wanted her for himself-NO nothing like that, its about CONTROL for Keith. he wants to control every aspect of his sons lives. especially the black sheep of his kids-Mathew. Keith knew Ellies family well, shes blonde, all American persona, lowkey looks like Chantal tkachuk, she was in a sorority, the Connell family have the same political beliefs as Keith. There was no way Keith would approve of anyone besides Ellie Connell who he knew like a book.

i’ll use a prom analogy to better explain.

Keith =mom dress shopping with daughter. Mathew=daughter dress shopping for prom. Prom=life. Dresses=Girls Classmates=teammates

For Example:

mom likes a dress for u to wear to prom & u don’t think its ugly or anything is necessarily wrong with it-it’s actually a nice dress but its just not the type of dress YOU want for yourself. but ur mom keeps pushing it & saying how good it’d be if u chose the dress she liked (almost as if she’s living vicariously through u). U don’t give into her pressured, instead u got out on ur own and find a few dresses that are your type. U hide it from ur mom knowing she won’t approve, but when she finds out about the dresses you’ve been trying on she is FURIOUS. Now, when she see’s u she makes rude comments about the dresses u chose & acts passive aggressive making sure u know she disapproves. she tells u none of your classmates buy dresses that are colorful or that aren’t made in America & u’ll be the only one with a colorful dress & u’ll look ridiculous & she’s worked too hard for u to embarrass her. she tells u flat out that she doesn’t want u to get the Beige dress, or the brown dress, or the mixed Black black & white dress, or the yellow dress not even the Tan dress, she wants you to get the WHITE dress. U want her approval bc she’s always been hyper critical of u, so even tho the white dress is not ur type -it is a pretty dress & there’s nothing wrong with it, so to make ur parent happy and get her off ur case u pick the dress thinking to yourself well maybe it won’t be so bad after all….but remember you can LOOK good with the dress, ur parent can be pleased that u finally chose the dress THEY APPROVED, but if u don’t FEEL good u won’t be happy……at prom….

“Okay, I think that’s the last of it,” you said, glancing around the front closet one last time to ensure that all the gifts you’d hidden from your four-year-old son Aedan had been retrieved from your secret stash.

Matthew smiled, tucking the final presents beneath the Christmas tree just yards away in the living room.

“I can’t wait for tomorrow,” he said, the excitement in his voice sounding as childlike as your son’s, which warmed you from head to toe. “Seeing his face opening all of this tomorrow… it’s just gonna be so cool,” Matthew continued as you approached, wrapping your arms around his waist. “And, as usual, you’ve done the bulk of the work to get it all ready, so thank you for making this another amazing Christmas for our boy,” he said, pecking your lips before sliding his hand down to your newly-formed baby bump, “and our girl, too,” he said soberly.

You beamed, hugging him close. “The pleasure is all mine,” you insisted, immediately followed by a yawn.

Matthew smirked. “And now it’s time to get to bed, Mrs. Claus,” he insisted, tapping your nose with the pad of his finger. “You and our newest little snow angel need to get some rest before the wild man wakes us all up at the crack of dawn.”

You nodded, laughing. “You’re not wrong,” you admitted, smoothing your hand over his red pajama shirt.

“Oops, I almost forgot…” Matthew said abruptly, squeezing your elbows before scooting around you. You turned to find him reaching for the cookie on the plate Aedan had carefully placed on the coffee table hours ago “for Santa.”

“There are lots of things I love about being a dad at Christmastime,” Matthew mused, inspecting the red and green sugary crystals atop the cookie. “But this… this is right up there.”

And you hook up

you wake up at dawn pretty hungover

He doesn’t confront you about it or anything but at the next party he comes up to you and next thing you know you’re hooking up again

It kind of becomes a summer fling?

But eventually you head back to school and he heads back to Calgary

he texts you but it’s not much since you’re literally in different countries

you really don’t think much of it

sometimes he’ll FaceTime you after practice or before a game

“are you going to cheer for me?”

He invites you to fly out to Calgary and you’re like ?? but it’s a free trip and you always have a good time with Matthew so you go

When you get there you meet the guys and some of the WAGs

“matty talks about you all the time”

one of the girls asks how long you’ve been together

you get back to his place and try to be super chill about it

“so ummm people seemed to think we were, like, together”

“what?”

“(y/n) we’re dating.”

“we’re what???????”

he gets this incredulous look on his face, “are you seeing other people???”

“um no but you’ve literally never asked me out”

“i flew you out to calgary”

the pieces kind of start to click together

like the lunches

and the skating

and the laser tag

you feel kinda dumb but also how were you supposed to know

you WANT to be dating

so you tell him and

y’all are dating now

for real

and you both know about it

he’ll do something stupid on the ice and you’ll yell at him really loud through the glass

you can see him say “love you too”

he sends you flowers

and when they show up the delivery person goes “(Y/N) Tkachuk?”

and you just sigh and nod

you try to be mad but Matt sees right through you

if he’s talking to someone at an event, you do that thing where you don’t want to intrude on the conversation so you awkwardly stand just outside of the circle and he’ll wrap his arm around your waist and pull you in

“have you met my girlfriend?”

keeps his arm around you and squeezes your hip

eventually he proposes to you

he has a recognition thing at a game and he gets down on one knee in front of the whole c of red

you’ve talked about it first so you didn’t feel ambushed

when you get married you caption the wedding pic something dumb like “legally good pals” because you’ve always had a really playful, teasing relationship

he posts his own wedding picture but the caption is really long

“Can’t believe I get to marry my best friend.”

“So excited for forever with you.”

he really wants you guys to start trying for a baby

you’re like “hold your horses we need to know that we can handle a dog or something before we go all in on a tiny human”

next thing you know you guys are getting a dog at the shelter
