Wuh oh, this isn't looking good!
Trying out a few things, ignore any shading or coloring changes as the comic continues, I'm trying to find out how much effort is too much effort.
Now that everyone has been introduced: Bearstar, Hailheart, Icequill, and Lynxbite are from Peakclan and Tigershadow and Flamefeather are representing Shoreclan. No one from Meadowclan is here to fight...hmmmmmm, I wonder why....

Yeah, I have no self control so INTRODUCING SWIFTHAWK'S ADOPTED DAUGHTER, LYNXBITE. She's a terrier mix of some sort, barely any bigger than the average cat. I gave the dogs some specific changes from the cats; boxy paws and "natural" eyes with no visible sclera/eye whites. She's great exposure therapy for Swift, even if he can be very hard on her and she causes some PTSD symptoms at times.

First Page of the reboot! We're going back in time to watch the last stand of the clans, featuring the familiar faces of Icequill and Hailstar, though she hasn't gained her leadership yet! Bearstar is Peakclan's leader at the moment, don't get too attached.
I'll be reordering some stuff on the blog, so don't get scared if things get posted randomly, I'm trying to figure stuff out. I'll see you guys next Sunday for page 2!

are you going to make millie being able to speak dog relevant? i always LOVED that little plot point in the graystripe manga, but it never came up afterwards 😔

Yep! She's the big translator. Lynx learns to "speak Cat", while apprentices learn to "speak Dog". I imagine speech in this world is a LOT of body language. Lynx is a very chill and quiet dog by nature. But she gets tons of exercise on her lone patrols where she gets to run, and chase (and catch!) squirrels, and bark at the neighbor cats! ;v; She often collects big sticks and of course old bones to contentedly nom upon at home. The Clan accepted very quickly that when she brought back prey, she would bring back a chew toy, too.. She does whine, being more emotionally driven than cats, but when she does get happy and start barking in camp, the rude cats hiss, and the mentors and apprentices come in and say "hey, time to go train!"
And the training is where she really won cats over! The mentors and apprentices quickly realized just how helpful it was to train with a completely different animal when they knew she wasn't gonna hurt them. While she is encouraged to hold back in camp, she's encouraged to let loose in training. Obviously not bite down too hard if she does catch another apprentice, and you know. No killing. But otherwise? Go crazy! Even snarling and barking threateningly is recommended in the mock fights, because it helps the apprentices (and mentors!) not to be scared in that situation and keep their wits about them when they face a dog who will actally hurt them. Lynxpaw/bite just pins them and licks their faces and wags her tail because she loves her Clan, and her friends and family. She holds back a lot because she kinda just wants to cuddle everybody instead, but at the end of training, she gets lots of good attention and a chance to nap and groom her sisters when they get home.

Swift found her as a tiny puppy barely able to "talk" and he was going to kill her. But he's such a softy at heart and he can't just abandon her in the woods so he just picks her up and sneaks her home and asks his wife if she would be comfortable raising her until she's old enough to be kicked out on her own. Daisy looks up at him and asks:
"Are you?"
But as per usual Swift nonsense, he doesn't answer. And over time, he ends up incredibly protective of her. The two options for who would be leader at this point (not Bramble btw he never even becomes deputy) would both be hesitant but basically say "as long as the safety of the Clan stays your primary concern." And Swift agrees to kill her if something happens. :D
Not offense... But Swift looks as an abusive father towards Lynx. Dogs needs to barks as cats needs to meow and the fact Swift will kill her if she "loose the control" when he adopts her, it's weird :(
OH NO THATS NOT WHAT I MEANT, those two topics are seperate. He was going to kill her when he first found her, but couldn't, so he brought her back. Once he made that decision, he has no intentions of ever hurting her. He's just strict.
I totally thought I had added three crucial words to that last post, but I didn't because I'm flighty at the moment, I apologize! ;; She's not allowed to bark or run in the camp. She is fully allowed and even encouraged to do so out in the territory. While it does take a bit of time, ThunderClan learns to distinguish her barks. Not only from other dogs, but what she's saying with them. If there are intruders, if there's a non-feline threat, if something is wrong, ect. Even if there's just something she needs a second opinion on. After all, she goes on patrols alone as she functions so differently from the rest of the Clan, and if she runs into a threat she has to fight, she doesn't want to freak out her friends and family.
Basically, Lynxbite learns Cat, and the Clans learn Dog. But she has to patrol during the day; she doesn't want to wake anyone!
