As spring of 1930 slowly turns to summer, Wanda often finds herself ill in bed. Her body feels weak and tired, as if she has no energy anymore. Sometimes she wakes with a deep nausea.
After a few weeks like this, Wanda finds herself unable to ignore the signs any longer.
She must face the truth: she is likely with child.
"I...I don't know what to do, Lyle. God, I'm ruined, aren't I?"
