hard to handle ;; lyingismysurvivaltool
At first, Luke thought that Bonnie was just a tough nut to crack. He knew the very basics about her, like how she used to be a junkie, how something messed up with her previous group, how she spoke softly but was a much bigger threat than she seemed. He knew that Bonnie lied just as easily as she told the truth and he liked that about her. Luke knew he shouldn't, that the liars were dangerous in their unpredictability, but this was Bonnie. Exceptions could surely be made to every rule, right?
As soon as he made her an exception he realized that he didn't like Bonnie as this mysterious, unattainable figure. He liked her. He liked her flaws and her soft, accented words, liked that she lied so easily and wondered what else was easy with her too, if her smiles were real or just indulgences for the other person's benefits, if she actually liked what she said-
He wanted to learn what made her tick, if the fire that her hair turned into when the sun was setting was just as bright as the fire inside her. But how did one go about wooing another in a zombie apocalypse? How did Luke go about wooing anyone, period? He never did have luck with women and Bonnie seemed the type that would just smile sympathetically at his fumbling attempts.
"Out here again," he observed as he came completely and totally coincidentally across her. "Mind if I join you?"
Playing it -- whatever "it" was -- cool was all he knew how to do, really.
The lesser evil - [Bonnie & Sophie]
She didn't want to be at the camp. She was terrified of Carver and had been ever since the incident at the lodge. Dragged back here with the others, she hated being bound to one group of people, not being allowed to back out whenever she wanted to. It wasn't so much that she preferred being alone, she just wanted to have the option, in case things turn bad. As she walked through the camp to where she'd been appointed to work, she felt eyes on her, but pretended not to notice, instead focusing on the sound her worn sneakers made against the gravel below. She wondered briefly how the other were faring. She hadn't seen most of them since their arrival. Hoping they weren't worse off, she shook her head softly. Finally making her way to the other side of the camp, she entered some sort of building. The first person she saw was someone she recognized. From the raid. "Oh. It's you," she said, her stare void of emotion. Walter had given her food. Now he was gone. But no matter how much she didn't want to admit it, she couldn't help but feel this woman hadn't done what she did out of her own free will.

Luke doesn't buy into the whole "family" concept that Carver is selling, but the warehouse does feel like a home sometimes, and it does feel like a community. A group of neighbors living in one building; they all had their separate lives but they knew each other with varying degrees of closeness. He likes some of the people in the warehouse well enough but everything else-
Well, let's just say he doesn't agree with Carver's methods entirely.
Bonnie though does agree, or is at least good enough at lying that she has Luke fooled. He knows better than to talk to her or around her about how he's thinking of leaving and contemplating taking some of the other survivors with him (assuming he can convince them). But she is nice, as long as he pretends that everything is alright. She's actually pretty sweet.
Which is why he offers her a smile when he approaches her, figuring that he may as well help her on guard duty since nothing else was going on. Aside from dishes that needed doing but that was- well, that was not his type of work, to say the least.
"Anything out there?" he asks, nodding his chin towards the great beyond.
