This is a first for me in the wild... Lygodium palmatum. This genus is a vine-like fern. It has adorable mitten-like leaflets, and the “vine” is actually a frond that grows indeterminately. That’s weird for leaf! #botany #fern #lygodium #vine #plantsareawesome #optoutside (at Long Pond, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPwQ5YbnjHm/?utm_medium=tumblr
Climbing Fern - Lygodium reticulatum
Lygodium reticulatum (Schizaeales - Lygodiaceae) is a species of climbing fern native to Australia and Polynesia. In fact, the genus Lygodium is one of the few climbing ferns in the world, presenting leaves of more than 10 meters long, and distinctive because the fertile segments of the fern appear as strobiloid terminals to the sterile region of the leaf.Â
