thinking about the dichotomy of taro romancing both arueshalae and daeran— demon girl, and angel boy respectively— and how their attraction to the two of them primarily stems from the fact that they don’t allow what they are to define them. arueshalae is a creature of seduction and consumption, meant to lure in and devour in horrible ways, but she turns to kindness and gentle curiosity, to loving and being loved. daeran is supposed to be a pristine and angelic aasimar noble, but he enjoys hedonism and indulgence, he’s cruel, he’s self-absorbed.
then i think about luthais, someone whose life was full of rigidity and order, who ultimately succumbs to it when put under pressure, but his inner anger and burning desire to know and to keep what is his safe he would bend any rule at any cost.
taro really loves people who are inherently contradict themselves. they love finding contradictions in anyone, really. they embrace chaos and find an unwillingness to be static and solid sooo beautiful.
