The iconic “Broken Rice” of Saigon

This is a project that I came up with when I had to stay at home for weeks because of the Covid-19 epidemic, and I or we (especially Saigonese), all remember and love to have breakfast with Broken rice dishes (“Cơm Tấm" in Vietnamese). We all love broken rice dishes as much as the famous "Banh Mi".

I return to drawing on paper after a long period of time, then coloring and finalizing on the computer. As a result, each individual in my pictures represents a collection of memories as I practice observing the surrounding changes. Hopefully, everyone will feel close to each other and remember their own memories. For myself, I love this drawing and can't wait to eat this favorite dish.

The feature is about the horrific treatment of these animals I feel the need to help get the word out and do my part. So I'm posting this image to help spread awareness. 

A commissioned work I did for an Indian friend. The concept revolved around beautiful memories when he was in Vietnam.

I recently got to do a series of illustrations for the feature articles of T • P O T Journal Magazine. The topic is about Time Travel.
