Data Glut / Information overload & not enough information & Lumi.do
Here I'd like to point out that it's possible to feel that you're living in information overload, that you're suffering by data glut and at the same time feel that you're not getting enough relevant information.
This is because we're fed with too much data everyday whereas a large chunk of it isn't relevant.Â
I believe that if we'd consume only the information that's relevant to us, that's interesting to us, then we'd consume much less data / less media, but we would accomplish more, since the data would bring us forward.
So - Google is a great tool to search for data, but it's gotten huge, there are a ton of results that aren't relevant to you and you need to learn to search well and/or to filter out search results.
Because of this there is an emergence of apps, platforms, portals like http://www.lumi.do which presents you with a set of stories, links, information which might be relevant to you, based on some criteria. Note that Google does the same with advertisement, YouTube does the same with content, but they don't present you data unless you search for some other data, which is relevant to you - I mean to say that data isn't presented or brought to you constantly, but only when you do a query.
Lumi.do or StumbleUpon try to give you relevant data all the time.
