A follower asked me for a detail view of my lumber rack yesterday so here it is. All pieces are cut from three-quarter inch plywood, assembled with glue and screws, and hung on a French cleat system. The cleats are attached using lag screws into the studs, and each of the uprights has a cleat in the back to rest on each level of horizontal cleat. It takes a bit of measuring, but you can batch out eight uprights at one time if you want to, which spaced at stud width, is enough horizontal distance for 10' Boards. The design of the uprights are my own, so I was a bit nervous at first but it's worked out great. I have my exotics and hardwoods up top, some random stuff in the middle and my cedar and pine on the bottom. I had a little space leftover, so I made a small shelf for odds and ends at the bottom. I can't even tell you how many board feet of lumber this rack will hold because I have not found it's limit (yet 😬). It's been more than enough storage for my needs. . . . . #thejawnshop #frenchcleat #storage #garage #workshopimprovements #diy #shelf #shelves #wood #woodwork #woodworking #woodworker #custom #handmade #design #lumber #rack #lumberrack #custommade #diy #doityourself #garage #workshop
