Sewing gods: “Bwahahahahaha!”
The pattern was weird. I forgot the notches. I misread a step and assembled the lining wrong. The waistband had to be taken off twice. The pattern didn’t say when to slash the zip open. Teen decided she wanted it so short, I had to cut the pleated split at the back off altogether. The lining around the zip had to be unpicked twice.
And then I finally finished and went to press it, and my iron WHICH I HAVE USED ALL THE WAY THROUGH melted the material. 😭😭😭
Two days for a project that should have taken a couple of hours. At least I’m learning, right?

Things I have learned today:
1. Read the pattern carefully. Forgot to cut neck piece on the fold, so it’s got a seam down the front too.
2. My overlocker/serger is ACE - edge, trim and assemble in one pass.
3. My sewing machine has a twin needle and extra bobbin pin that I’ve never used before (I’ve had it twenty years 😂).
4. Hem the sleeves before assembling. They’re too narrow for the free arm on my machine.
5. I threaded the overlocker without consulting the manual for the first time! (Only bought it last summer.)
6. You can make this top in less time than it takes to listen to Pride and Prejuduce. Lizzie is still enamoured of Mr Wickham. 😀
Making more Jessa trousers. Cut down a size because last ones were too big, and might taper the legs a little so they’re not quite so wide. Black needlecord this time with a bit of stretch.
