It was quiet in the darkness of your living room, the only light coming from the flashing light of the television that played some movie Luke didnât even care about anymore, even if he was the one who begged you to watch it. No, all Luke cared about was the beautiful girl laying next to him with her feet draped over his lap, something that he didnât let anyone do. Anyone but you.Â
He watched you smile at the tv, your cheeks wet from the silent tears you shed during a sad scene. Any other night and Luke would have been relentless with teasing you about it, but tonight all he could do was watch you wipe them away with his sweatshirt sleeve and bite your lip to hold back a sad laugh.Â
Heâd never tell you this, but whenever you watched anything with him he always ended up watching you and your reactions. Luke didnât think much about it at first until Michael asked him about it. It was then that Luke realized that maybe this wasnât a normal thing. Watching your best friend so intently couldnât be normal, and to be honest it was bordering on creepy. And even though it happened so often, you never seemed to notice and Luke thought that maybe that was best.Â
He wasnât supposed to feel like this over you. Wasnât supposed to hold on for a minute or two longer then necessary whenever he hugged you. Wasnât supposed to think about the way your soft skin felt against his. Wasnât supposed to think about you at night when he was alone in his bed.Â
And Luke couldnât help thinking that it should have felt weird, all these feelings he had for you, but it didnât. It didnât feel weird when he kissed your cheek and it didnât feel weird when he daydreamed about his lips pressed to yours. It just felt⌠right.Â
You laugh beside him, your sweater paw covering your mouth as your glassy eyes focused on the movie playing. Luke thought you looked beautiful right now, your hair a mess and falling over the arm of the couch, your cheeks flushed and slightly red from wiping at them. Luke wanted to kiss you. Wanted to hold you. Wanted you. And Luke couldnât just let you live another second without knowing how he felt. So he decided to bite the bullet, no matter how it could turn out.Â
âI think Iâm in love with you and Iâm terrified.â
His words donât register with you at first, but when they finally do you donât act. You just sit there and Luke feels like heâs gonna throw up or pass out or, shit, maybe both. He canât believe he just did that. He just ruined your friendship. He hated himself, felt like smacking himself for thinking youâd feel the same. But then suddenly youâre siting up and leaning close to his face and all his senses are overwhelmed by you. Everything is you.Â
âItâs about damn time, Luke. I thought I was gonna be an old lady with blue hair before you finally spoke up.âÂ
And then youâre kissing him and heâs so shocked that he doesnât do anything at first until realization sets in and heâs pulling you onto his lap and his fingers are everywhere. Your hips, your back, your hair, your cheeks. He holds onto you like his life depends on it and when you break the kiss to lean your forehead against his, heâs whining and panting and trying to get you to kiss him again because fuck, that was the best kiss heâs ever had.Â
âIâm certain that Iâm in love with you, Luke.â You giggle as he kisses your cheeks.Â
âI canât fucking believe this, oh my god.â He gapes, taking a break and resting his head back on the couch. âWhy did you torture me this long?âÂ
âMike said that you should be the one to say it first. Something about it helping you or something.âÂ
He groans but his hands trail up and down your spine, feeling every curve of your body. âI hate Mike.âÂ
You kiss his neck, enjoying the shaky gasp for air he lets out and the tight grip he has on your waist. âLukey, why are we talking about Michael right now?â You ask, meeting his eyes in the dark of the room.Â
âI donât even knowâŚ. can we kiss again?â He asks and you laugh, nodding your head and smiling into the hungry kiss he places on your lips.Â
Luke was elated. Luke was on top of the world. Luke finally had you. Â
