Having finally cleaned up the ghost mess in his hometown of Casper City, Eli Fenton was ready for a normal life in Gotham University.

Good grades, a steady job, new hobbies, actual friends who didn't try to salt and burn him — that was the dream.

And to be fair, he was doing great. Grades? Perfect. Job? Pays rent. Hobbies? Half-decent.

Friends? …Okay, small problem there.

Turns out, making friends in Gotham is tougher than fighting an undead warlord. And so, Eli, in his moment of pure chaotic genius, just decided to gaslight people into being his friends.

Step one: act like you've already met.

Step two: Keep acting like old pals until they believe it.

Foolproof.

Unfortunately, across campus, Theo Drake and Luke Thomas were about to have a nervous breakdown since apparently they both had a mutual best friend that neither remembered.

Their first theory?

The timeline broke again. Obviously.

Eli's "Friendship Project" had started on a Tuesday, because catastrophes always waited for weekends.

He was carrying a tower of textbooks when he crashed into someone. Papers everywhere, dignity gone.

“Oh man, sorry—!” he blurted then froze. “Wait. Theo?! No way, dude!”

The stranger blinked-dark circles and caffeine aura screaming college burnout.

“…Sorry, what?

Eli laughed easily. "Still doing the whole 'pretend we never met' bit, huh? You haven't changed at all."

Another guy came in before Theo could answer.

“Hey, Theo, everything good?”

Eli’s smile expanded. “Luke! Bro, what are the chances? The two of you? Did you practice this?”

Luke frowned. “Uh—

“You're really committing to the confused faces this time,” Eli said approvingly. “Ten out of ten acting.

They exchanged glances-the kind that screamed, "Something supernatural is going on, and we hate it."

Eli, of course, ignored it.

“Anyway, you two still go to that café on Fifth, right? The one with the cursed espresso machine?” Theo’s gaze sharpened. “You’ve been there?” “Sure,” Eli said. “Used to third-wheel you guys there all the time. Guess some things never change.” Silence. Suspicion. Detective brain activity. Eli clapped his hands. “Cool! Coffee? My treat. Once the caffeine hits, your memories will catch up.” Ten minutes later, they were at the café, Eli sipping happily while Theo and Luke tried to figure out whether they'd just been timeline-hacked. Eli smiled into his mug. "Man," he said softly, "it's good to see you guys again." And that was that.
