When the Scoob! movie was announced, the Brazillian fans had a pretty simple image on their head: Mckeidy Lisita as Shaggy, Reginaldo Primo as Scooby, Peterson Adriano as Fred, Fernanda Banonne as Velma and Flavia Saddy as Daphne. 

As it has been since the original voices --- Luis Manuel (Fred), Juraciara Diacovo (Daphane), Nair Amorin (Velma), Mario Monjardim (Shaggy) and Orlando Drummond (Scooby) --- retired in 2013 (except Luis Manuel, he retaired from Fred in 1998)

(Fun fact: If you search Orlando Drummond you will find these two awesome facts ---> He is 100 years old and he is in the Guinness Book for dubbing Scooby-Doo for 35 years! A Legend)

But them came the announcement that there were going to be changes to the   voices for the movie (and the movie only) as a form of tribute to the original voice actors.

Fernanda and Flavia remain with Velma and Daphne --- They were chosen by the OG voice actresses when they retired after all.

Fred is going to be voiced by Felipe Drummond and Young Fred is going to be voiced by his yourger brother Eduardo Drummond (Both are Orlando’s greatsons. The greatsons of the Scooby Voice are now voicing Fred.  A subtle homage to Frank Welker double dubbing duty, Fred and Scooby )

But what about Shaggy and Scooby? No one was sure whet they were plannig for the boy and his dog. Who could possibly be choosen for the roles?

But what happened was a wonderfull surprise. 

They called Mario Monjardim and Orlando Drummond with the following request: For the first theater release of an animated Scooby Movie, they had free hand to choose who was going to dub their characters!! 

Drummond choose Guilerme Briggs, who is know to be one of the few capable to flawlessly replicate Drummond’s Scooby voice and one that WANTED to voice Scooby for a long time!

He is also the voice of my entire childhood anyway. He can add Scooby to his repertoire. As a treat.

From Briggs Twitter: “We will imitate the voices of our masters in their characters, under the direction of Flávia Fontenelle. With that, we will fulfill an old personal wish of Drummond and Monja, who wanted me and Fernando to replace them as Scooby-Doo and Shaggy when they retired "

But for real,  even Reginaldo Primo -- the current Scooby voice -- was also responsible for the choosing of Briggs for the theatrical release.

Quote againg from Briggs Twitter: “I also leave here all my affection, respect and admiration for my colleague and friend, voice actor Reginaldo Primo, the current voice of Scooby-Doo in the animations, who was one of the responsibles for this dream to have been realized"

Can you imagine wanting to voice a character for so long, just for the current voice actor to go to you and go “My friend, you wanted to voice this dog for nearly 10 years now. Drummond gave his blessing, lets do this!”

Look at Briggs (50) and Drummond (100). This is the smile of a man realizing a dream.

And Shaggy?

Mario Monjardim choose Fernando Mendonça.

Fernando Mendonça had already previously worked with Monjardim because he, hold your socks now, ALREADY WORKED AS SHAGGY!!

Thats right! To be precise, Fernando Mendonça is Shaggy’s singing voice!

Mckeidy Lisita (current Shaggy) was also helping Mendonça with the role. He, Mendonça and Monjardim apparently would have entire conversations as Shaggy so Mendonça could perfect the linguistic mannerisms that Monjardim established for BR Shaggy in 1969!

The power of love and care, My guys, gals and non-binary pals!

This post served two purposes: 

1) Brazillian Scooby history and the care and love we have over here with Scooby-Doo

2) A contrast to whatever the hell happened in the American dub.

This was my long convoluted -- and i hope educational -- way of me saying that if there were footage of Matthew Lillard and Will Forte screaming themselves hoarse in a car in the studio parking lot, Grey DeLisle giving Amanda Seyfried some tips, Mindy Cohn and Gina Rodrigues having a chat Or you know, informing them that they would not  be voicing the movie, because from what i saw, no one aperantly bothered to say anything to them things would have been waaay different.

i cant say if Zack and Frank didn’t have chats, maybe yes maybe no, but you get my point.
